Any tips on how to remove sealant from my road bike frame? Never seemed to have this issue on my MTB it normally comes off quite easily. I have no idea which sealant the bike shop used.

I use benzine or thinners. If you use benzine wear gloves and a mask....not good for your liver apparently.

As most sealants use latex in some shape or form you can try really hot water....

Do Not use thinners or benzine if you don’t know how the paint will react!

handsanitiser has always worked well for me. It’s isopropyl alcohol diluted with water with dash of propylene glycol. Apply to a soft cloth and rub the area where the sealant is sticking to the paint. This has never affected the paint on any bike I’ve cleaned sealant from.

You seemed pretty good at cleaning the sealant off your bike with the petrol station windscreen wiper/squeegee as I seem to remember 😆

Okay, the OP probably got an answer in the last year ....

Best way ... polish the frame.  Sealant cant stick to the polish and washes off with a wet rag.

Getting sealant of an un-polished frame ... damn .... lifes too short for such strugles ..

Yip. I tried Isopropyl alcohol, thinners, meths etc but have found that for dried Enduroseal pretty much only Benzine works ...I did try a small underside spot first.

Something worth trying .... pour some sealant on a rag, spread it out and give it a minute to start drying, forming a rubbery layer.

Now wipe this over the area on the frame with the sealant.

This works on cleaning old sealant from inside a tyre, just maybe it will work on the frame.

Bizarre, my enduroseal wiped off with water and the muc off bike wash  and some of it just peeled off.

Does your frame have any polish on it ?  Maybe a protection layer from the MuchOff wash ?

I have Nam Gear polish on my bike frames, and the sealant can be wiped off with my dry hands.

ONCE had sealant on a frame without polish .... what a mission

Perhaps , I generally also give the bike a spray with some mist and wipe ( car detailing spray ) after every wash. I reckon this must be a factor . I too have used the Namgear stuff in the past, and it definitely also made cleaning easier.

Some Matte paints have weird reactions with sealant. Sometimes the sealant grips to the paint quite tenaciously. It comes off but elbow grease and hand sanitizer has worked well for me

Ok cool, I see you said benzine which is quite mild ( somehow I read benzene)

folks, benzine and benzene is not the same. Benzene is a pretty aggressive solvent that we try desperately to get out of the chemicals used to make benzine.

not to be confused

It's probably the highly toxic one....I just make sure no skin contact or inhalation....afaik it's not good for the liver
