Just wanted to check so we don't give you info on the wrong device. i think most with wahoo's have bolts.

I've got no experience with the Roam. I have a Bolt V2 and absolutely love it, so i'll check out on further info, other than to say, if you're looking at the Hammerhead, go to the suunto international website, looks like that price is all in.

Its the V1 Roam I'm looking at.

Whats the battery life like in "normal riding" mode ie not navigation?

I get close to 19 hours on my Edge 530

I am not sure, Just checked now and after 13:30 hours of riding and my Wahoo still have I think 30% left. Can be wrong about the 30% I am recalling when I stopped yesterday.

As a Roam V1 user, I cant really recommend it.
Got mine 2 months before the massive price drop, which hurt some what.

Its a relatively dumb unit and falls short on some aspects. I've had instances where I've charged it over night, start a ride with 100% power with it only to die 20min later. Intermittently of course, so hard to prove a warranty claim.

It also doesnt connect with Discovery Vitality, so you have to download the .FIT file from Strava, use fitfiletools to change the device, then upload to Garmins site which syncs with Discovery. A pain, but a necessity if you have Vitality.

The Edge 530 is a solid unit, it is better than the Wahoo V1 or V2. The only thing the Roams have going for them is the large, non-reflective display that has good viewing angles with the ability to zoom in on the fly

For me, the Edge 530 (and newer) works seamlessly with navigation as well as integration with most 3rd party applications:

Garmin
Strava
Intervals.icu
TrainingPeaks
Discovery Vitality
Watt Bike at the gym
indieVelo/Zwift
My Kickr
RidewithGPS

Not forgetting some custom apps/widgets.

@love2fly ever considered getting a garmin wearable. This way you will alway have a gps unit on you should i you forget the head unit. And then when the 530 dies, you can replace it with the latest device. These devices keep getting better, so why try prolong the life of two aged devices when you can get the latest with all the fancy garmin insights?

As attractive as that seems - I used Polar wearables from 1999 to about 2018 so I'm kind of over them. 😁

The main reason is also display size (at just turned 60 my eyes aren't what they were) and the Bryton drills the Edge 530 in this regard as it can load a 2 column 3 row display whereas the Garmin only does 2x4 go figure.... That gave me an idea I need to check if the Wahoo will do 2 columns x 3 rows....

From what I see online the Wahoo has 10 data fields - 2x5. Does anyone know if you can go to 2x3 thereby enlarging the metrics?

its quite a porky device. I do like it but they tend to break their mounts when used offroad extensively

yup, it is heavy and their proprietary mount is crap so I use the supplied Garmin adapter

but the unit is really good, navigation is awesome and the processor speed and screen is amazing

Ok so I opted for a new Wahoo Roam V1 rather than a used something else (or new something else).

Liking it so far except for the weird LED notification bars on the left and top of screen....IMHO they are really not necessary. Wonder if they can be switched off so that it doesnt look and sound as if I hit the jackpot?

Like so far: The display size and way less glare then my edge 530. Also, the 3 buttons to start, stop and screen etc on the bottom are easy to use and I prefer that to a touch screen that's probably not going to work as accurately as required with my full fingered MTB gloves?
