Yes, that’s the spot (3.5km from Oasis)

No idea how long it’ll take to fix, you could always phone oasis on the day and find out. You really don’t want to get there and then discover you can’t get through, going back up that hill was less than pleasant.

Rode from Oasis to Op die Berg today, and then towards Ceres (until my friend in the car caught up).

Some proper climbing in the first bit (4.5km, 321m; followed by 15km, 661m; both with pitches of 16-18%).

Then nice rolling gravel before some tar to Op die Berg and a lekker headwind downhill towards Ceres

given the impending rain, and likelihood of more flooded roads, we called our “training camp” a day early in favour of a Sunday at home. Still got 2 decent 90km days out of it (1600m & 1800m of vert respectively) with lots of gravel saddle time.

16-18% Wahhhh!!! have to rethink my packing (plan on self-support c/w tent)....

Those pitches don't last long, but the 4.5km climb starts with Garmin telling you 8% remaining.

With 3km to go it's at 10% remaining.

With 2km to go it's at 12% remaining.

And that last bit has the pitches in it.

I just drove over that bridge 2 hours ago. Water runs over it about 300 to 400mm deep. Do able with a bakkie…. But not with a bicycle😂😂

so about knee height then, can you walk through or is the current too strong?

Any recommendations for lightweight meals, either the boil-in-bag or just-add-water option....don't want to carry pots around....meateater but will tolerate grass occasionally...

https://foreverfresh.co.za - go for the butter chicken

locally made, portion sizes are a bit small

mama alles - no one seems to like them, but cheaper.

all the imported ones are pretty decent, just cost a bit more.

The Ceder race is 5 October, just something to be aware of (since it may impact accommodation)

Thanks for the heads up!! I see its from 4th to 6th, that whole weekend...and all based out of Oasis, so yeah guess it may be a bit full in that area...plenty of other places to overnight, I'm sure...

Yet more discoveries...

Algeria camping closed for 2 years! Had some correspondence about plans with Cape Nature and never mentioned this until now! So onto the next possibility

Driehoek Farm....3 days of calls, no answer, no replies on emails...anyone have any inside info, is this place still open?

Anyone been Algeria area recently ? Last time I rode there the roads were super corrugated and it was a rough ride on the crux. Wonder how it's going to be now for Ceder
