So which bunch this weekend is riding for seeding and not racing, asking for a friend...?

Good question. My PPA  loyalty points must be super low again so I got a B number not a symbol

I can't speak for everyone else but my goal this weekend is to improve my CTCT seeding.

I'm demoted to E - from the lofty heights of C I think at the peak of the curve - so obviously I've p1ssed someone off.

Not that I mind - maybe I'll only get dropped on Adderly

Looks like a general drop, truth be told I have not done a seeding event in a while and am now paying for it.

Those that did the Winelands must have had a nice bump?

I was in F (DNF due to a mechanical) and am now in J!

PB in Winelands, by a good margin, still dropped one group ....

Winners were "too fast", thus a bad beta dropping everybody.

99ER 2023 in A, 2024 B and now in D, but might drop back to G to help some mates improve their seeding for CTCT.

CTCT- 2023 started in the &

CTCT - 2024 in the & again but started in the A

Generally speaking you need about 1 strong result every 6 months to stay in or move up a group. For most it would mean that after the CTCT you need a strong result in either the Durbie Dash/One Tonner or DC to maintain your seeding before the next calendar year.

Got back into racing last year with the 99er, hoping to work my way up to some good Vets racing for some motivation to keep the training going, but seems like racing vets are just used as bunch fodder unless you are good enough to enjoy racing with the elites, which only a few are. I guess I only speak for a few, so not something that needs attention I guess.

Yeah the system isn't great. I did Durbie Dash, started in the 2nd start group and finished with the group. But the beta was so poor on that race it didn't help. Then the penalties for the previous 6 months start to kick in.

With less races, I think they need to reevaulate the penalty period or mechanism for doing the seeding better

Agree - and sometimes it can be very hard to improve your seeding from the 2nd group at the best of times. Last weekend at the Winelands A (2nd bunch) was slower than B and C (ignoring the D bunch story). So even if you broke away and won A bunch your seeding would not have improved.

Why so many Riders in $ (160). CTCT have 150 Riders $ and have full road closure. I think this will be become a problem on race day. Especially on the old malmesbury road in a single lane with traffic still on the road. Don't know how the coms going to handle this.

Character groups (&, %, etc) at CTCT had ~300 riders each last year, not sure how many $ had

CTCT 150 in $. If you ever raced in $ you will understand my concern. But this is just my opinion.

I will raise this with the relevant people. Let's see what their feedback is

I'm reading a bunch of stuff about the seeding and groups but I dont understand how it works, can someone briefly explain? Is it basically the better you've done in the past the earlier you start? Don't want to hijack the conversation but just want a general idea if no one minds.
