Is this a route one could do solo (I know a generally accepted rule of thumb is don't do any riding or hiking solo in Cape Town) - but these are fairly well populated on a Saturday morning, so relatively safe? Alternative safe-ish routes in Cape Town one could do solo? CBD & Southern suburbs preferred.

Also, I am a beginner, looking to do some light trail / easy routes on an MTB.

Hi, I do this route at least once a week, mostly solo. Would say it is somewhat technical with some steep bits, but just walk the tougher bits? But worthwhile.

Best trail at the moment in my opinion is Murate. with the new additions it is riding spectacular. Murant did an absolute stellar job there and I keep going back

Big +1 for this. Meurant is a superstar. The trails are in great shape and Never say neverending story again is a spectacular section. I understand why it is on the Epic route for this year. Just be aware that Trailforks has not been updated to show the new fenced off section - I spent a while trying to work out where to go (because I trusted Trailforks over the signs on the actual trail).

Hi guys,

I'm in CT till the 19th Dec, I'm staying in Parow North with family.

I'm looking for recommendations on some MTB trails to ride, I'm good for distances of around 40-60km's, depending on the elevation, I don't mind driving out a bit too get to the trails, but not too far. The only place I've ridden in CT was in Tokai about 18 years ago.

Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Trailforks cant keep up with farmers fencing of areas.  Often just for a few weeks at a time
