Monton bib shorts - anyone tried them?

Interested to hear feedback from anyone who has tried Monton bib shorts.

I need to replace some Enjoy bibs that have reached end of days. I would've gone with Vye as their shorts are working well for me, but it seems I'm no longer their target market given how they've discontinued pretty much their whole line.

Just looking for Monton reviews please, don't need to be told how wonderful Assos are or how cool I'll look in Ciovita (my mates say there's no hope...). Thanks 

Oh, I've given up on Enjoy bibs, love the fit but there's a mesh insert in the front of the pad that tears into holes after fairly minimal time - had 4 pairs do the same & feedback from @Enjoy Fitness when I pointed it out wasn't overly helpful 😕

Haven’t tried them as yet, but have several friends who have bought and are really happy. 
The one did a multi day bike packing trip  with his, no complaints. Jhb- Kzn

Like all brands be sure what level in the range you are looking at as this might present diverse opinions

I have Monton bibs and I love them. They have different ranges so be sure to be specific about whether you want the one with thicker padding by or the thinner ones. Also different materials and trimming. I would suggest buying in store if you are in Capetown or joburg. Better than online.

the overall quality is great. The chamois pad is only 6mm so on the thinner side which has been ok for me for rides up to 4 hours. after that my ass needs more cushion

Yup, plan was to head into the store to try before I buy. I'm happier with a thinner pad so thanks for the heads up on variety 👍

As you're aware, I'm too lazy to ride for more than 4hrs nowadays so I should be ok.

I've got 7 pairs across various styles and all a win.

Not as cheap as they were, some are nearly 4k now, first pair i got was 800.

Just search monton in the forum and you'll see all the positive comments

They're great bibs, i wont wear any other brand

But, you must go try them on first. They have different ranges so you can best fit them to your style ( more compression for endurance rides, short legs, long legs, etc etc)

Thanks for all the responses. 

I went to the CT store on Sat, tried on a few styles, then got upsold by the sales guy. Spent a little more than intended on a pair but was promised it was a great buy..

Did a 3hr ride on Sunday and they were great 👍

Fit is a little different to what I'm used to. The fabric of the pair I bought (Pro Speeda) has a very different feel, weirdly quite stiff. The leg grippers don't seem to operate very well on hairy legs but the shorts still didn't ride up so I guess it's working as planned. Potentially better than my Vye bibs leg grippers which snag on every hair, starting at my feet, when trying to get them on 😆

Oh yes, I was told by the import agents that the reason you end up showing your crack to the world when you don your older bibs is becuase the sweat from your crack/back/hair etc break down the material and the result is the material goes transparent. 

The solution, she said, was to imidiately rinse (or wash) them with fresh water when you are finished cycling - wear them in the shower to get a rinse if you want. Once rinsed you can toss them in the laundry to wash another day. 

 

And I guess you rock lycra on the trails too? Cant hide a good set of skulls with baggy pant on the single tracks can you?
