LiPo Battery 3.7V 1200mAh | 59x36x5mm 1C 1Cell – DIY Electronics

This is the closest to the original's dimensions but is 5.4mm wider at 36mm compared to the OEM battery's 30.6. It could maybe be made fit with a bit of dremmeling.

I saw that but I am not interested in a  LiPo as I have had one explode on my RC yacht while racing for no reason.,  Also, do not want to Dremel anything when it comes to batteries or the likes as I am not qualified enough in this regard. The battery must fit.

The original is LiPo. And any replacement will be too.

Three screws later.  I see there is facility to add two wires to outside the unit so as to connect to an external battery and to retain the charging facilty or even charge from the outside with a suitable charger.  The cover pops back into position as is but I will waterproof with liquid rubber which may glue everything back into place?

It ended up as a piece o' pie.  Patience and more patience required but the excercise is doable and definately worthwhile.  Not difficult at all.

Did you manage to source a suitable replacement battery yet?

No, not as of yet.  What I have managed to get is a bigger (size and capacity)battery which I am going to connect externally into my bike rack with snap fittings.  I hope to source a replacement battery later as I need the Varia to ride immeadiately  because I dont feel safe without it and cannot wait.
