I dropped my Edge 530 and shattered the screen although the device still works.

Is it possible to have the screen repaired, and if so, are Garmin the only the guys to do it  ?

If it's out of warranty no point sending it to Garmin, replacement unit at a small discount is the best you can hope for.

My suggestion is watch YouTube for instructions, order a replacement screen online and fix it yourself.

Unless like my 520 the gps stopped working & then you are forced to take the replacement unit at a discount, on the bright side you'll most likely end up with a 540 or 550

My screen on 530 started unglue'ng itself and coming loose a few rides ago. Wrapped my elastic around it for. Any long term hacks or just old Q bond?

I have stuck a strip of transparent packing tape (wide Sellotape) over the screen to hold the shards together and it seems to work fine, but not sure for how long.

Just some feedback - I am a complete DIY retard, had a similar situation & same temporary solution. Ordered a new screen online months ago but postponed replacing the screen as the tape was still holding and I don't trust my DIY abilities. Then this morning on a training ride I hit a cat-eye and the screen came completely loose and stopped working altogether.

Got home. took out the replacement screen and swapped screens in 2 minutes. Garmin looks as good as new, it was flippen embarrassingly easy - didn't even need to watch the Youtube video.

Actually makes me more angry with Garmin's policy on this, completely replacing units on an issue that can be fixed in seconds.

Yip also did the aliexpress screen no problem. Google will tell you how to remove the broken one just be patient not to damage the case.

To glue the screen go to a cellphone shop they will do it easypeaze for them its just another screen.

Your "DIY retard" made me chuckle - I walked into the bike shop the other day and the guy said "BAck so soon - you been playing with the wrenches again" cos I'm always walking in there and asking them to fix something I've F443ed up.

Good to hear. My screen tape held/holding great so far. No issues even at w2w.

Where have you ordered from? I will do the same while mine is still good...

That's inspiring to hear actually. They probably have that stance as repairs are difficult to 'warranty' afterwards, so it opens a whole can of worms for them. I used to repair units for a Danish AV brand and it was complicated even if the work was done meticulously.

I'm in a similar situation with my Garmin watch. It has a cracked screen and there are replacement parts available but I feel doing it won't guarantee it remains waterproof. So, i essentially have to wait until i have enough money to buy another watch at the 20-30% discount they offer. Which is crap.

I ordered from here (was a bit cheaper in June) https://www.mavericksales.co.za/products/lcd-screen-and-digitizer-full-assembly-for-garmin-edge-530black

In hindsight I should have tried this

I'll admit I'm slightly nervous about the waterproofing, but it is a bike computer not a watch so should be less of a risk (and the previous screen had a hole the size of my pinky finger so I am sure waterproofing has improved regardless)

Ali express had screens for around R480.  Not sure who would be able to install it.

So easy - see Youtube for the exact procedure

After a bit of rain a few days ago my 530 seem to have lost its GPS for good. First struggled to switch on now goes on but without finding its bearings.

For what its worth, I'll be sending it to Garmin. What discount we talking? 20% off new 550 is still too much mid Januwarry 🫣
