sports drinks, whats your choice

Short rides up to 2 hours plain water, longer 1 bottle 2/3 energade 1/3 water, 2nd bottle plain water.

Have noticed a couple of things over the years......

 

Water & Coke works well.  But messes up your bike!

"Normal" stuff, i.e. Game, Energade, does NOTHING for me.

Cytomax is very good but pricey

FiT has the same (Almost) ingredients than Cytomax and works well but left in the sun (Riding more than 3 hours) it becomes.....shall we call it funny? tasting. (And not racing with Viagra funny)

PVM is cheaper but has almost the same content as FiT and Cytomax.  Compare something like USN/Energade/Powerade with the above and you'll laugh!  No issues with funny taste.

Powerade in specific gives me kidney stones.  Tried and tested.  .  Weird.  Would like to know what in it is the cause?

So on ANY ride (Not race) I will use water.

In a race, one water and one PVM.  Works well on the body and well on the budget.

Interesting stuff.

I find that most supplements give me cramp and make me feel ill(as in kotz).I believe its the fructose.

Trying Rehidrate at the moment and seems to be going much better.

What I noticed with Cytopower is that it makes urnate quite a bit. ..

Something interesting to add to this maybe - how much do people spend on their sports drinks?  I get 2.5kg of energy drink powder or 2.5kg of pure protein powder for R180.  Lasts me a few months.

AFTER a ?solid? race/ride I use Fast Fuels Recovery ? works exceptionally well for me. the sooner the better!

DURING the race I use(ed) Energade at half strength plus some apple juice and some lemon juice (= as a natural preservative!). My dentist told me this Monday to change from Energade as the coulorants (naartie) are staining the teeth despite all my regular and frequent cleaning...

Someone in an ealier post said that Cytomax is a bit expensive, but if u work it out it actually works out cheap seeing that you only use one scoop per bottle compared to other products that required 3 or more scoops

FiT - There is no other choice and especially the GOO as it tastes just as good going down as it does coming up when puking on a hill.
