RHR and sickness

I got this of the Net:

Resting Heart Rate
Before calculating target heart rate zones (THR) you need to determine your resting heart rate (RHR).  To do this simply take a reading with your heart rate monitor or take your pulse first thing in the morning before getting out of bed.  If you need to use the bathroom do so and lie back down for a minute, then take your HR as a full bladder can increase your heart rate.  Take your HR for at least three days then average it out.
RHR is also useful information to monitor your health and training.  With improvement in your fitness level you should see your RHR decrease.  Likewise a RHR 10% above your normal level usually indicates you are overtraining and/or sick and some rest is required.  Take a day off or just do an easy workout.  Listen to your body! **

My question. I took my RHR the morning before the Simonsvlei race and got 51bpm. I raced and felts like crap and my throat was sore the morning and still is today. I've not cycled the last 3days and continued taking my RHR every morning.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

So Sunday it was 51bpm - Raced and felt crap

Monday - 46bmp RHR - Throat still sore - No cycling

Tuesday - 44bpm RHR - Throat still sore - No cycling

Wednesday - 41bmp RHR - Throat still sore - No cycling

Today - 44bpm RHR - Throat still sore - AND I AM GOING CYLING! Angry

My QUISTION is, they say when you sick your RHR is up by 10%, if I had to guess my AV RHR over 3day would be 43bpm - so if I plus 10% will that be the HR I'm not suppose to ride at eg. 47.5??Bpm

How much should a person read into this stuff?? Geek

Marius, how dare you use this "sickness" to shamelessly show off that you are so anal retentive that you actually measure and log your waking heart rate, and that it is almost under 40bpm, (with a "cold" nogal).

You could have done some serious damage to someones ego with this type of blatant bragging (and trying to hide behind fake ignorance). Please post an apology immediately. right now.....

lastly, listen to your body (if you have a partner hers/his body). Like it is not right to cycle, the bed is farmore enjoyable.......

or

I feel crap to day, so no cycling. (Never race if you feel crap, never, ever......)

Thx Kona, and sorry... but I don't think my RHR will go own more when I'm healthy again, will keep checking for the rest of the month just to satisfy my own curiosity. As for not racing, mmm, that's a tricky one..but see I'm pretty useless when I do cycle when I'm not 100%.

MW, ek <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />kan nie net DR. gaan nie, gaan maar nog gorrel met sout, can I buy the antibiotics from a pharmacy without a prescription??

THere are some psuedo antibiotics available over the counter, but just check that they are not on the dope list. Alternatives graze your way through your herb garden. Honey, Thyme, rosemary, sage, chilli ext all have some antibiotic properties (if I remember correctly, but just check ie google it)

Nee dude.

But I had the same thing 2weeks back so it's a first that I get it so close after the other one, weird.Ouch<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Marius - I smell an excuse coming on ..don't even think about it ..

If you are not well then it is fine to just ride your bollox off for 20 kms and then go home.. (that's fair isn;t it MW ?)LOL
