has anyone noticed the poor management in some of the pro ladies teams???

where riders dont get what they were promised and dont get pulled into the team because one or two riders take the spotlight in the team.

ladies are being misused and unfairly treated..some riders never get the chance to perform at their best because they have to work for other ladies whos racing days have long gone expired..

and im just wondering if all the things the sponsers put into the sport actually reach the riders..?

Interesting post for 1st one 1st of all. Seems to me you probably also one that lost big time from a team somewhere.

But have to agree. Number of ladies teams management is really pathetic. They don't recieve everything in the contract like you mention and then salaries is paid in late or even salaries is halfed for unknown reasons at certain times. Goes so far that at the end of their contracts that they don't get there salaries at all for last couple months of it.

If the riders ask before hand if everyone get a chance to win....well...thats just another joke as they never get a chance. In some races the riders of a team have to sit up so that a certain rider in the team can go on and win the race...if they ignore the call they go before a disciplinary hearing for it.

Then to add things, riders must sort out there own problems. Sort out there own transport to certain races sometimes, by road and air travel, supplements, etc. Organise there own thing at the races.

I can go on and on about this. Its really sad that things are run this way and that goes for a couple ladies teams that is currently racing.

One of the best ladies teams i have seen in the past years based on management was definitly Konica minolta ladies team with Ronel, Cherise, Yolandi, Arien. That management was great. Thumbs up to John and co- management team for showing how it should be done.

it is not only the ladies teams that get messed around like that the mens teams are also involved and it sucks because you might find a rider who has huge talent and needs to work on the finer details and then gets promised the world one week and the next week has to call the team manager and then get told while wasting his airtime that he is being fired for not being the right person for the job and the very next day you find out that you have been replaced by a 37 year old never was

it all goes down to politics and unfortunately they will never be sorted out as long as people keep quiet!!!

in my opinion take whoever screws you over to task and sort it out that way instead of crying on an internet forum I did it and things are still going to hit the fan and it wont be pretty i promise you!!!

Sad part is turtlek...some riders is still paying for it after opening their mouths about certain things, and thats now a couple years that is past.

Please don't start another war if you cannot provide proper facts. If you have a written contract then you are protected from the so called wrong doing.Problem is most of the wannabe pro's accept word of mouth contracts then cry later on.

A few months ago a lot was said about Minolta handling of some contracts and their members even suspensions, yet when the contracts were called for some could not be produced from the riders. You have a copy and your club management has a copy otherwise no deal.I wonder what type of managers/agents our pro riders have that some get themselves into such predicamnets.

Thinking aloud: maybe time to get the association/union for riders of the ground properly this time around. I remember there been talk about this sometime ago.

a contract is in place but mr. manager regularly reminds us that any good lawyer can get "him" out of the contract - so we dont even go there. Supplements have been received 1 month out of 8 other extras promised nothing has come off - when you ask questions the standard answer is the sponsors have not yet delivered . With regards to the most basic item any rider needs to be part of a pro team - the kit we ride in- well that is another story 2 sets of kit for racing and training for the year and winter has come and almost gone again without any extras to keep this pro teams riders warm.

After every race we are all being fired for not being a "pro team" yet we do what we are told - then we r holding back the bunch as our "leader" is in the break  - then suddenly we have to chase as our leader needs help we work our *off and then when the "leader" doesnt make it to the party it is our fault we are not racing like a pro team - just following our pro managers? instructions.  I realise today that we are not a pro team and not due to the lack of talent or willingness but due to the fact that we are not MANAGED PROFESSIONALLY!!!  As some of you have mentioned there have been lady pro teams in the past that have been MANAGED PROFESSIONALLY - AND WELL DONE TO THEM.

Maybe it has to do with our managers reasons for being in the sport - to promote 1 single rider (with an hidden agenda - or maybe not so hidden  )

so a word of advice to young ladies who want to ride pro keep your eyes open and speak to other pro ladies before you decide to sign up with what you might consider being an "established" ladies pro team. You can do better for yourself while actually enjoying your cycling.
