It does not matter what he did, what they did is not acceptable in any society.... however skewed our society may be. In their testosterone riddled state they did not for one moment think what harm they did or are doing to the cycling fraternity. We are a unprotected minority by virtue of the sport we chose to practice. Go and tell this to someone who has had a husband or child run over by these simple motorists. Guest Big H Posted November 22, 2006 Share Sucks.... I arrived on the scene where a buddy and his partners were hit by a truck.... not a nice sight to see. The partner still does not cycle. First of all I am a cyclist and I also do hate motorists who in their narrow conservative minds see cyclists as as "moffies with tight pants on"!!!!!! I CANNOT handle a motorist who has no respect for other road users. Not only do I cycle, my wife is my partner on the Tandem. I fear for her safety as well. What I cannot condone is "VIGILANTE" cyclists who take the law in their own hands. THAT CAN NEVER EVER BE OK!!!!!..........OK!!!!! They are thugs who villify your and my name as a cyclist (even Cervelo's name!!!). They can be the cause of you being WILLFULLY struck by a car next time. As for taking the law into your own hands.... In this instance, although part of says " rock on, the driver deserved it and then some"the rational part of me says "bloody idiots, all they've done is make us cyclists more of a target" Thank heavens I wasn't riding with the group yesterday. HULLE WAS 'N GROEP VAN 40 wat rustig uit was op 'n training ride.......Vigilantes soek skoor....hierdie ouens het fiets gery saam met hulle vriende en familie.....HELLO!!!!! Die motoriste moet aanhou met die nonsens....Net spring daar rerig Vigilante groepe op en DAN kan oom bitch en moun. Tot dan moet almal besef dat dit is menslik om te reageer. Thank goodness it was NOT the 40 cyclists who attacked and savagely beat the defenceless old man ..... only the six "VIGILANTES" who waited for him at his place of work!!!!!!! Hulle het geen reg gehad om oupa aan te rand nie . Ek weet dit is dalk net die een kant van die saak en dat oupa dalk skoor gesoek het , maar daardie ses vigilante soos jy hulle noem het so pas die lewe vir alle fietsryers moeilik gemaak . Guest Big H Posted November 22, 2006 Share Let me relate a story of what recently happened to me on our last visit to RSA. At the One Stop near Kaalfontein we stopped to get something to drink. On my way to the convenience store an arrogant young man in a 4x4 willully tried to run me over while his companion laughed at the incident. I went to the cold drink store and lo and behold the snuiter walked in. I accosted him to his behaviuor, he got angry and threw a punch at me. I feigned the punch and decked him with the two litre coke in my hand. His buddy tried his luck and I asked him if he wanted to look worse than his pal. He turned around and fled leaving his buddy out cold on the floor. With my HR close to max I left, got into the car and drove off leaving a bunch of flabbergasted people in the cafe. Only told M about it that evenibg. That guy got what he looked for and I will do it again if the same thing happened again. But to attack a old man in a premeditated way is criminal.
