Chris and Chris Jnr are active on this site - can you guys nip this one in the bud please. Also can't understand why the serial numberd would be removed?

This was done to protect the public from buying Mavic wheelsets which are brought into the country in an illict manner. Riding with wheels like these will not only void the warranty but may expose the cyclist to a wide range of liability issues. Mavic takes quality and service very seriously and will do anything in their power to protect the public from pirated products. Boy am i glad i got mine from a reputable dealer - they have changed my cycling experience 31 minutes after you joined you post this. You say the wheels were brought into the country in an illegal manner. Did they smuggle them in across the border from Zim or did they have a mule that swallowed the wheels. Could you please clarify

Now they are grey, or numberless. Questions: Does the serial number determine that it is a Mavic wheel? If Mavic removes the serial numbers of "Substandard" wheels after production, then is it no longer a Mavic wheel even though it still has Mavic stickers on? Why would Mavic then sell these wheels on the international market and not in South Africa? IS it not unethical to punish retailers by "Steeling" their "Fake" stock without attempting to plug the hole at the source of the "Fake" wheels?

I waited 4 months for a replacement skewer and I am currently on 2 months for a spoke. Maybe they should stop trying to shut down grey importers and focus on the service you seem to think they take seriously. Yes of those there are many about. That is why they will "weed out" ..... (who can remember when that was said ???????) ...... LBS shops who do not co-operate!!!!!!!!!!
