Not the best track, not too bad, but the dedication of the song to Piet Botha = gold.

Unfortunately I only "discovered" Piet Botha after his death, I would have absolutely have loved to attend one of his live performances.

Ironically "A good friend of mine" knew him from a few personal encounters, and he recons he was a really great person to meet.

Keep digging on Piet Botha he was special, he had Billy Bob Thornton as a drummer whilst doing his thing in the US, he was a dedicated family man, a great musician and lovely guy. There is a very good documentary of him on youtube.

I went to many of the Jack Hammer shows, in the early 1990's he played occassionally at a club called Cherries Too in PTA, Farm Inn on occasions, his shows were always good. He employed really talented musicians and with his bands went through a number of transitions and influences.

I liked him for being his own man and choosing his own path, very much different from what the times, his culture and his family would have expected of him. Truly a unique personality to be admired.

@ Hairy, if you enjoyed Piet Botha, dig up a little Koos Du Plessis also. Lyrics absolutely world class. Afrikaans Bob Dylan, ek se! Poetry and music rolled into one.
