An item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it' date=' not what some third party thinks. It is all about opinions, and what you think is too expensive might be a good deal to someone else. [/quote']

I haven't read the whole thread so I could be repeating someone else's viewpoint.

Myself like many others are not so clued up on cycling stuff so we would like to see people comment on price etc. of cycling stuff that people are selling here. If you put something up for sale on The Hub you are going to get feedback in some way or another as it is a public forum. If you do not want feedback go advertise in the Junk Mail.

Of course I support people replying and commenting in a constructive way and not to take down the poster.

I agree but that is what PM and contact numbers are for.

...kolonel...is that the pot calling the kettle black..?..Wink

No not really I have and never will reply on a for sale item and say it is a rip off or a sh*t product etc. Its got nothing to do with me and I dont know why the seller is selling. Maybe he is selling ause his daughter has cancer and needs money and then some little prick comes along and says its a rip off or whatever and then his daughter loses out.

Just sellit on Gumtree if you don't want to get a pasting. I've sold a few things and bought a few things on the hub. I got lots of funny' date=' irrelevant, stupid, accurate, wildy inaccurate comments on the stuff I sold, but in the end a buyer saw the value I was asking and paid up. Same with the stuff I bought - there were all sorts of comments, many of which were bollocks, some of which I noted. But hey I got me a mind of my own and made it up.... [/quote']

Correct.

Go and have a look at ALL of my stuff that I have sell over the Hub.  ALL of the threads have reached at LEAST 3 pages.

Mostly ramblings and irrelevant, stupid comments.

But if you are open to negotiations and open to conversation to keep the thread in the open eye, then the ramblings and negative feedback is all good.

To me, if someone says my price is too high, I go back to the drawing board.  I don't see it as negative.  There is no such thing as " consequences".....the only consequence is that you won't be able to sell it because the price is too high or you are selling crap.

Me......I go back and ask myself.....do I want to sell it or do I want to keep it?  And it is THAT EASY.  You want to sell it, you drop your price, and sell it.  If you don't, take it off the Hub and keep it.

And something to mention:  Everything that I have listed on the Hub, has been sold!!!  Clap  Why?  Because if I asked to high, and someone chirped me that I am out of my mind, I said "fine......make me an offer".....and the item was sold.....

But if you want to SUCKER people into buying an item at an elevated non-market price, the Hub is not the place to be.  Thumbs%20Up

The problem with people commenting on prices of equipment, is that it is most of the time by people who have no interest in buying. They just throw their 2c in and detroy the sale completely.

Like it was said earlier, if someone feels that the price is too steep, then let the seller know via PM and give constructive advice with facts to back up your statement. Don't go flaming a person in public.

At the end of the day it is the buyers obligation to compare prices and make sure that he/she is getting a good deal.

Maybe next time I want to buy something at my LBS I must advertise their price here and see if everyone on the hub will run around to see if they get me a better price somewhere else. At least then I won't have to my own dirty workOuch. Because that is what happens here, as soon as an item is advertised then prices from all over the country are thrown at the seller to intimidate the seller into dropping the price.

I had the same hassle when I tried to sell my Polar a few weeks ago. People who weren't even interested in buying the unit, were flaming me for asking too much, which severely impacted on the sale.

So my advise....MYOFB!!!

Yes indeed It would be a shame if he/she was warned that way we cant rip people off

Note I am being sarcastic and in favour off comments on sales this way rip offs are prevented power to the hub

I agree and disagree. Sure if you have an informed opinion and post it in a mature manner you will help the seller and potential buyers. But you DO get the asses on here who are typing-happy and just post crap for the sake of it.

I have been thinking about creating this thread for a while. I left it and thought it was just me. However another hubber phoned and had the same feelings. so here goes.
With all due respect to those in the know' date=' those that have experience and those that simply should be respected for what they do and have done for cycling. There seems to be a crowd who simply cant mind there own business. I have seen a few threads of late where people post replies to sales without thinking about what the consequences will be. Yes people are free to express there opinions but should stop trying to speak for everyone or negatively affect a sale. Surely if you think somebody is asking too much you could PM them or state your concerns in a positive way. The forums are there to ensure fair practice, not too get dragged into long debates over the price of something or whether something is good or bad. Many hubbers use other threads to do there research to find out the truth about a bike or product.
I suggest we have something like
MYOB
Mind Your Own Business
If you feel somebody is unfairly interfering in your business you could post MYOB and everyone would be aware that you feel that they are interfering and thus reduce people posting destructive comments.

f*** this. freedom of speech, baby!
