This thread has made it clear that most cyclists are elitist

little (^%$%$##$@) who cannot afford the bikes they curently ride,  are obscenely jeaous of people who work real hard , and can afford to buy what they WANT....

GET OVER YOURSELVES

GET BETTER JOBS AND BUY YOUR DREAM BIKES...

FOR F(&^%^&%$#$@#) S(*^%$%$@$@#)

These theads makes regular plain cycling made people like myself who most prob, have been cycling longer than most of the little green rats who cant afford anything - have been alive - want to stop using The Hub

it is us fat bling F)(*&*^&^%$( who pay for the good sh*t and in doing so make it possible for companies to offer sponsorships

I SERIOUSLY MUST RECONSIDER USING THIS FORUM .........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Each to his own.

What should upset you is the number of bikes' date=' Raleigh's, Treks, Cannondales, No-name brands, standing in garages with spider webs on them

[/quote']

Yes Spidey, I get highly upset at the number of Cannondales standing in your garage with Spider webs painted on !!!!!!!LOL

Ok, so being "metabolically challenged" I have decided, after reading this whole thread, to sell my BMC as well as the Giant TCR Carbon that I am busy building  up, because I am only in K group and clearly no about to turn pro. I would hate to slip and crash these beaties on the slime of puke as I get passed anyway.

I managed to get hold of an old RC6000 with 105 group for my IDT, which I shall now ride on to avoid offence ( not to mention the constant regurgitation of unused brain cells from the offended)

This thread is also why I do not and now never will ride on hub rides or introduce myself to hubbers - because I don't carry a chamois with me to clean up the mess!!!Wink

When will you all learn, style is not what you have, but rather how you ride it.  Owning the bestest, greatest bike is not enough.  Riding with the a FU attitude is what counts.  It is not good enough to be a cyclist, you actually have to believe you are one.  (This is really difficult when you are pushing your bike up a hill in shoes made for tapdancing)

You cannot buy style, but style sells a hell of a lot.  LA and Flandis do not have style, Paulo Bettini, Cippolini, and Zabel have style.

Buying the best, means you can buy the best.  Good for you.

Riding away from the peleton on a climb with a 12km MTB, now that is style.

Winning your national MTB championships as a roadie, that is style.

Winning world champs and olympic champs in the same year, that is style.

Withdrawing from the TdF after you have won all the opening sprints, that is style.

Riding a bike that is a collectors item.  That is style.

Riding a bike that is older than you.  That is style

and for Rad006, that is style.

For Dan Craven:  Riding on a BEN bike instead of a how's your mother sponsored bike, that is style.  (Winning the race is just awesome.)

So no downgrading or upgrading is not going to change things one squat.

As buzz lightyear said:

"This is not flying, it is falling with style".

as long as the guy dont ask you for money for the bike why be jealous ??? really so petty its his money he can do what he likes with it as long as he/ she is enjoying what he/she is doing then who gives a damm !!! really each one to their own and if they can afford to buy the best bike but cant ride as fast as other so frigging what who cares a shirt !!!! just do the best you can and enjoy what you are doing that is what I say !!!!

Hagar is probably spot-on.  The bike you buy has more to do with what you want and can afford (the intersection between the two).  It has nothing to do with cycling ability.  Nice bikes are nicer to ride, might feel faster etc.  But at the end of the day a good bike is a good bike whether it cost R5k or R105k.

And that' date=' to extend on your very own point, is your very own perception of style...[/quote']

100%, correct.

ClapClapClap

Style is an attitude and perception, so it is relative.
