The Pirate Posted November 24, 2008 Share What do you ride The Pirate? I'll see if I 'got' you ? i've got blue/white Giant - Ksyriums White/black Giant? - with 404's another Giant - blue bar tape Red Specialized with (looks like) 606's .. at least ? Hi Ronelle. I'm the biggest idiot at the race with a pair of 606's Our team got ZIPPS from a friend of ours that own a shop in Kyalami and I thought the 606's will do the trick I own a set of 404's that I use between the single bike and te tandem but for some reason I wanted the 606's. Stupid mistake, the wind was a "little" against me Could you please put the pictures of the red and black and white and black Specialised bikes on, please. That is me and the wife Savanha. Still trying to get her to chat a bit more on the hub. Thank you very much

Marius Posted November 24, 2008 Share I also took some pics...while getting out of my Car I looked down and saw something moving, I thought it might be a spider and was ready to jump real high and tip toe around it but then I noticed it was jumping, so I looked a bit closer.. mallo Posted November 25, 2008 Share It is great to see so many lady cyclists out on the DC. I hope PPA encourages the ladies and gives decent incentives for them to continue in this vain.Keep going WC ladies.
Nix M2 Posted November 25, 2008 Share The <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Club 100onName> diamonName>onds set off feeling confident to tackle the 208kmonName> course after monName>any monName>onths of blood, sweat and tears! There were 10 ladies that monName>ade up our teamonName>, all ready for the long road ahead. On the start line we had a monName>echanical issue already and called in all reinforcemonName>ents. Unfortunately we had to start with a less than perfect bike ? a LBS had replaced the front derailer after 94.7 and it wasn?t working. So Nicole couldn?t get into the big chain ring, which monName>eant she was spinning all the way to Tradouw. We lost her there to hopefully get it fixed. So 170kmonName> to go and 1 down. Round the 50kmonName> monName>ark I started getting a monName>igraine ? lost monName>y vision in monName>y right eye, which I can tell you is rather scary when you have teamonName> monName>ates riding so close to you and you can?t see themonName>. I decided to keep going and monName>onitor the problemonName>, and decide at the top of Op De Tradouw what to do. We crested after being chirped a lot by all the teamonName>s we passed ? are all ladies teamonName>s a novelty??? I felt better and decided I trained too hard to give up! On the decent we encountered a ?supermonName>an wannabe" ? thought descending at 60kph with his hands behind his back was a good idea??? Can you spell stupid? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />We were unlucky to have 2 ladies puncture and while we could fix one, the other looked to be a long job and left her to fix the problemonName>. 10kmonName>?s on another puncture, starting to get over themonName>, not even 100kmonName>s into the race!! We monName>ade it to Montague with 8 ladies, hoping we?d all monName>anage, we refuelled and set off. Only to see our lady who we left with her puncture had regrouped with us ? monName>uch to our relief (Janet you?re awesomonName>e!). the next 60kmonName> took it?s toll with teamonName>s drafting off us, and then passing and slowing in front of us. Made that stretch very frustrating, as they didn?t understand that we needed to race our own race ? we were not a social teamonName>! sorry to say that I was starting to lose monName>y cool with somonName>e of the guys who thought that we needed their help. Finally we monName>ade the Bonnievale water point and feeling better with food in our tumonName>monName>ies and pockets, and water in our bottles, we set off. Not 10kmonName>?s later I punctured L. Telling the teamonName> to keep going, a very kind Anderson Transport guy (who had punctured in the no support zone) changed monName>y puncture in record timonName>e J and we were off, not able to catch monName>y teamonName>, we waited for the Wannabe?s who were just behind. Over the rollers I was quicker then somonName>e, and headed off on monName>y own. Much of the timonName>e able to see monName>y teamonName> somonName>ewhere in the distance! My girls finished in a official timonName>e of 7:09 and I camonName>e in on a high at 7:12. We took third in the ladies category, and even though it was not 1st or 2nd, we were happy, exhausted and relieved. What an amonName>azing race, experience and teamonName>. Thanx girls. We will be back next year for sure!
