Jean-Jay Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 thats the trick question yeah, honestly i service my own bike, learnt how to do it years back so do it myself that way i know whats been done and how its been done, there are a few exceptions when i take it to the shop but this is very rare and far between

shade Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 me too.. i have 2yr CycleLab Maintenance plan, which expires in July..and I've never once used it.. I bet if I should take the bike in, they gonna tell me I need a new BB .. as well as the usual cables,chain etc.. My 10spd. Dura-ACE BB is 5yrs old and been giving no problems.. it has also already been transferred 2yrs ago to a new frame..

Slowbee Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 just called - the R325 includes pulling the BB and cleaning brake bleed and clean head set removal and clean wheel bearings replaced and cleaned gears re-set wash and lube and a set of brake cables good value me thinks

joevan Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 For clarification from Cycle factory: Full service includes, but is not limited to the following on MTB's:Complete stripdown to frame. Complete cleaning of all working partsincluding the frame. REPACKING of bb, headset, wheel bearings (on fullsuspension pivots, etc.) Complete lubrication, wheel true, front fork andrear can check. Brake bleed and pad check. Setting of gears, pressures,etc. Obviously, all of this is applicable depending of what type of bike itis.We just don't replace bb's, chains and clusters if it is not necessary. Weonly use Giant, Jagwire or Shimano cables and housings.Wash and lube service includes a thorough checking of the bike includingchecking gears and brakes. We hand wash each bike and soak the chain andcluster. We use top consumables such as Motorex. This is why it is R120for a wash and lube. Replacement of cables only is not R225.00 - it is R50 for the cables and R75for fitting.
