The kcnc v brakes are terrible...no amount of adjusting can get them to work. And they tend to fall apart all the time. On the other hand the road callipers are really nice. Never had any issues with them. I also had a issue with a mtb crank. The left arm kept moering off.

You said it, I have to us elike 10 cable ties on the V-brakes just to keep them not falling apart...but it's worth it:-P

My front Road caliper works fine, it's the back one that's driving me up the f'ing wall!

Marius, i have exactly the same problem as you...fron calipers on my road bike are great but the rear calipers are always going off centre.....i now ride permamently with my rear calipers open to the max.  I can centre them, tighten the bolt....go for a ride and after braking once or twice they are up against the rim on the one sideAngry But hey, they are light and look niceLOL

I'm also riding with the KCNC SC Bone flat bars.? My only experience is don't tighten the bar-ends to much.? Bend the bars where the bar-ends tightens.? So....very very soft.? And there's no bar end plugs to fit the SC Bone bars.? Tried Hope Grip Doctors....but hole is to big.?

Apparently Bowman has plugs, will check it out and let you know. If you're outside CT I can buy some extras and send them to you...

Oh, update on my Rear KCNC Brake calipers that were pulling to the one side. I fixed them lalala!!! My LBS put a new cable in and extended it, but it still did not work. So I got home and I took it off, took it apart and reassembled it all again, this time I noticed there is a little pee pee that's suppose to go into a slot on the top and after I got it in there and put it back together again it worked fine. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

So in short, I think if it's pulling to one side you need to extend the cable housing, should take care of the problem.

I weigh 87kg and have been riding with the following for a little over a year..

  • RD1 Silverbone cranks + BB. I haven't had to replace the BB at all, but

the drive side crank just cracked on my ride this morning (hence my

visit to this thread). Upon closer inspection I noticed that the other side crank also has a hairline crack in the same place. Does anyone have an opinion on my rights here? The components are a little over a year old. I am not sure what to buy if I can't get the agent to replace them. Again, guidance would be appreciated.

  • KCNC road callipers - no issues, although not as sharp as my campag brakes.

  • Scandium Bear Bone seatpost - I've no idea how much of the stuff is in there, but it's been great for the past year / 15000km. It does creak a bit when the lube around the seat dries out, but a bit of vaseline soon sorts that out (like many of life's pressing problems).

  • I also *used* to have a team issue oversize stem (which was nice as I'm 6'3" and riding a small frame) but that cracked shortly after I took ownership of the bike - got guarantee on that.
  • Lastly I have the chainwheel bolts and spacers as well which haven't given me any problems.

Hey Luke, it'll be very interesting for the technogeeks here if you could post a photo of the crack.

It'll help them (I'm not a geek) to comment on the origin of the crack, the cause and whether or not you should try for a gaurantee.

If the crack doesn't show up well, put some food dye on the area and put force on the crank so that it opens up a little bit and let the dye in. Wipe it lightly and take a nice macro shot. Preferrably with something better than a Nokia 3310.

We, I mean they, will have a look.
