Lancing Lance

Bryant Gumbel finished another of his ?Real Sports? shows on HBO this week with some strong words on cyclist Lance Armstrong, who the French are trying to ban from this year?s Tour de France after Armstrong allegedly violated testing rules for doping a month ago, when he eluded a tester to take a shower.

?In a sport notorious for the pervasiveness of doping,? Gumbel said, ?Armstrong, throughout a series of accusations and denials, has always claimed he was drug free ... Armstrong has never failed a drug test ... but he?s also never quite passed the duck test ...

?Those who buy his act and think Lance is being victimized by foreigners who can?t stomach an American?s superiority ... Others ... feel that his banishment has been a long time coming. Either way, it seems that Lance Armstrong may have finally given French officials good reason to tell him not just au revoir, but also bon debarras. That?s French for good riddance.?

This whole "france v lance" thing is just a lot of poppycock cooked up years ago by LA s publicity team - personally I think if anyone buys into it, ...................I also have a very nice office block for sale on the Knysna heads, 24 storys high, each with a sea view..............................!

The French are just doing their job, thats all, its not personal its business, and if LA dosnt like it, well dont go to France, simple.!

This, "I am LA attitude", I can do what I like is infuriating to most, if I was in charge of French dope testing I would do the exact same thing, test, test, test, test, test, test, until he learns some humility and / or stays in Texas, where he can swan around and pretend to be president.

Your partialy right, its time the troll twits found another scapegoat to generate revenue. Just the sight of another LA doping headline is enough to drive people away.

Like LA would purposefully create this kind of publicity, it?s the focken froggie twits who leaked it to that wonderful example of unbiased journalistic piece of newspaper that LA would not even wipe his butt with Le Equip (once again)?<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

What a pity they have to be so blatantly biased and don?t apply the same approach to all the other (including those with french passports) known and alleged dopers.

Please please please - Let us all be nice to poor lancey now, he broke his collarbone the other day poor chap and the last thing he needs is this.

what was the problem with him taking a shower - i dont hink it would wash off the evidence of any doping he may have done - or would it??

Also don't understand this, they took samples of he's hair for DNA testing....the test came back negative. So how did he dodge that??

Get some implants done in the shower??

I do however agree the Lance versus France is getting a bit old but I think that is how he works...he needs to have the trolls in he's life!

You are not supposed to be out of sight of the tester. This is to prevent the athlete from taking / doing something to possible dilute / difuse the test result.

It wont wash anything off, but he could have a blood transfusion or take some medication in the space of 20 minutes unsupervised.

What everyone forgets is the tester gave LA permission to go and shower, its not like LA took the shower illegaly.

Maybe Lance wants them to ban him from the Tour because his grapes have gone sour.Wink I mean the man has had no real results since his come back so all the pressure is on him to perform in the Tour - I mean he did only win it 7 times and alot of people out there expect him to do so for the 8th timeWink

I was wondering what happened during that shower- it apparently took 30minutes. Wink Was also wondering whether it was the same shower Jacob Zuma took to get cured from AidsWink
