Hi All

Does anyone have a view on which 3litre pack is better for mountain biking.

Can get a great deal on a Hawg but not sure if its too bulky for non-all day rides??

3L Blowfish also expands, works great, can fit loads of stuff in the back, if you don't need the space just zip up the big compartment.

Between those two definately the MULE. Takes more than wnough gear for a full day ride. Good quality, with enough small pockets/compartments to sort your stuff.

HAWG is too big. Closer to an overnight bag.

It seems the MULE is the gold standard in hydration packs these days - asked around and everybody agrees on the MULE. I personally ended up ordering the SCUDO from CRC because it is based on the MULE & BLOWFISH. Sells for nearly half the price of the MULE.

See the HAWG is a monster bag, but should be just big enough for my wife to cycle around the block - you know, everything including the kitchen sink being packed in.

Ive had a HAWG since 2001, and i still use it frequently. Its is a big bag to ride with, but I used to use it to communte to work and back, to carry my clean shirts / lunch etc.

Its a great peice of kit, but may be a little big for everyday riding. Its great on an orienteering kind of event, or an adventure race. I tend to use it more now as a daypack, as my hand luggage on overseas trips, or somewhere to keep my expensive cameras etc while travelling. I have however moved on to the 'Honcho' which is a much bigger Camelbak bag designed for snowboarding that sportmans warehouse had on sale a about a year back. Now that is a great bag for travelling!

Ive never used a MULE, so i cant compare, but the HAWG is a great bag if you need the space.
