Quick gap-

I went to the local market on Monday at lunchtime- you won't guess what for- to hand out pamphlets for a mate of mine who had his hard drive stolen over the weekend from his house here, offering a reward for its return. 15 yrs of work on the hard drive!

So as I entered the market I saw this unmistakeable flash of quality as this guy rode past, and I reocgnised the colours as a Spes SWorks. I had read Intern's post through when it came out, and I knew it had to be this bike. I drove up to him asking where he got the bike from- very cagey response, saying only that he wnated to sell it. I told him I wanted to take it NOW and he refused to hand over without cash. Got my contact number to HR and a call from Intern, and then went back to the market to find this guy. Only this time the guy was nowhere around, but the bike was parked up against the wall of the LBS. Jumped out, loaded it up no questions asked, then called the LBS owner telling him I had the bike.

End of gap- gotta run.

We were at a race at SAMCOR once when a guy recognised his stolen Trek 1200. It was used by a development rider. The guy claimed he bought it from someone. The whole issue turned into a nasty racial incident. The original owner could prove it was his bike. He had his name and contact details rolled up in the seat tube. The issue still stayed racial and could not be resolved but he refused to give the bike back.

Now here's the thing- I couldn't just "steal" it back. I contemplated it, but not for longUnhappy. The okes know where I live here. They know I train on the road, and that I've got bikes................. Same as if I'd reported it to the cops here. Crime is on the increase around here as well.Dead

The bike was stolen from Intern's place on Friday around midday. It got here on SUNDAY!!!! That's how quick they moved it- from Jhb, via Nelspruit, through Ressano Garcia probably on Saturday, then finally here on Sunday. So while the okes were keeping a lookout for it in Jhb, it was already long gone.

I heard that Susan Boyle is thinking about a career in Movies.

My mate had his house broken into and MTB stolen when we were working in London a few years back. So lo and behold he recognises two high school aged laaities walking through the park, pushing his bike the next day. So he puts his hands on the bars, insisted it was his and refused to let go. An argument breaks out, the one whacks him one shot....fat lip, blood nose....and they continue walking with the bike as if nothing happened. So basically first he was burgled, then mugged, by the same okes, for the same bike, all within 24 hours. For his efforts he had a broken window, a fat lip, and still no bike. Oh I neglected to mention, he bought it off a dodgy rasta to start off with....that is KARMA for you, my man!!!

Hey Yang. That bike shop owner in Moz; it sounds to me he is buying stolen bikes from the new SA  for a song and selling the stolen bikes in his beloved country? Does he want a reward from you for paying off the thief for selling him a stolen bike and now loss of proffit for his shop? Moz should be a good place to start looking for stolen or even hijacked bikes!
