Rather don't do that stretch if you are on your lonesome - there have been numerous bike jackings on that stretch of road - i had one lucky escape there - NOT ayoba.

It's a real pity coz that is such a nice stretch to train on, but with it being in close vicinity to DuNoon, it's just become dodgy (even on the N7 piece to contermans)...

Oi, the man resurfaced. We seeing you this weekend (Saturday) MariusL? Come on, I know you wanna ;)

This is a snapshot of that route. on my last training ride there 10 days before da Burger.

Below is the bloekombome lane leading onto the N7. Desolate piece of road.

I get there very early morning as it is better... 6 AM and before.

Thanks to Airbender, MariusL, SirK, Player23 and Lounge Lizard for all your input and advice surrounding the Durbanville area. I have heeded everyones advice and will more than likely look at Hill repeats up and over Malanshoogte as my Saturday Training Rides, shorter distance and I can do a loop through Contermans as well. Would be nice to get a group of riders together maybe once a month to do the 99er Route, feeling safer in numbers :) Once again, thank you all and hope to meet up with you sometime for a ride.

Cool man - but the invitation is still there for the training ride this Saturday. We aren't gunning it and don't rate us by our times for the burger - I know I rode over 100% effort on the route and even cramped up in the last 20Km's.

It'll be a chilled ride and Buzzman is probably the same fitness level that you are. I am going away for 3 weeks next weekend so it's pointless for me to go hard now because it will have no effect on my performance next year.

Hi there Sir K, I am supposed to be doing the Argus Training ride with yourselves and Wannabe, but I am really usure of whether I will keep up with you all. Knowing your times for Die Burger, you were all in the 3hr area and if I had not punctured, i would only have gotten round in about 3:40. So VERY nervous of joining you on the ride. Maybe in the beginning of Jan, when I have done LOTS of climbing!!

To make sure it is an LSD type ride, I'm gonna do it on my Mtb with slicks. I definately do not plan to race at all. Idea is to have a nice morning out on the bikes with like minded people, get some distance in the legs before the Xmas pig out, and go slow enough to enjoy the scenery. JOIN US, WILL BE LEKKA!!!!!!!

JA JA, you just want to show off your old new mountain bike and see how it rides :P

My guesstimate is closer to 4.45 hrs with all the detouring, South Easter and slower riders...

It's gonna be a beautiful ride on a world-class route.
