A good couple of years ago, coming down Ou Kaapse Weg (the steep side) with a mother of all South easters behind me, in my most aero tuck ever - 94km/h...

Had to replce my chamois after seeing that speed

30.06km/h  in 1994. No it is not a typo!

30.06km/h!

Not impressed? Ok, would you be if I told you I was in st.9?

Still not impressed?

Ok, how about if I tell you that was my average speed over 400m.

Still not impressed?

Ok, what if I told you I was wearing running spikes... :D :D :D

Yesterday at Oude Molen MTB...before race went for a gentle warm-up...just picked a random dirt road and gently minded my own bussiness...until these 3 farking mongrel brakke decided that i'll make a perfect early morning snack...

Well - let me just say this...my accelleration was WAY TOO fast to record on a speedo and my heart rate spiked at 184BPM!! all in sub 5 sec...

I actually went back to go and bliksem those brakke with a huge stick!!!! Bloody people not containing their dogs in their gardens...

Prior to this: ~72km/h down Simola this year at the Knysna PnP MTB race ...knobbies and all...what a sweet finish to a race!

That is some serious speed considering that the world record is 43.18 and you do it in 47.9s....

58km/h on a flat road on the Duallie with 140mm fork up front and 130mm out back and a big set of knoblies ... ran out of legs, gears and road (road works intervened) before hitting 60 plus .... unsure.gif

This is the flat section of road along the West Coast road adjacent to the Vlei.

My matte reminded me of it this weekend: about 80km/h on a fun ride around the old Kyalami track in 1978, but I could obviously only watch the old speedometer with 1 eye. The marshals were shitting themselves: "slow down, this isn't a bloody race you idiot." Ah, that old Peugeot Sting could shift on its beautiful whitewall Michelin tyres....

MTB: 74.2 km/h - this year's Knysna MTB 75km coming down "Simola Hill" (Ou Kaapse Weg)

Road: 72.9 km/h - this year's Argus Cycle Tour (my first) coming down Wynberg Hill (M3)

:D

Not sure if I've ever been faster, as those are the highest on my current Garmin.

Fastest ever was 112km/h on Roadie going down a serious hill outside Rustenburg. People who know the area, it is the hill going up to Sparkling Waters/Omaramba/Buffelspoort (Known in the area as "George").

Second fastest was 102km/h on hill right next to Waterfall Mall in Rtb. Was crapping myself, as I was scared of cars turning infront of me.

Fastest on Mtb was about 75km/h on one of the downhill sections of this years Burger Mtb.

Road was 87kmh in a race held at Secunda.

<DIV>This is for the coldest ride min temp: -5 avg temp: -3 max temp: 4 and I managed an hours ride in these conditions but never again.</DIV>

What on earth possessed you to ride in Siekcunda in the first place? :D

92km/h on my speed skates going down the winding side of kloof nek down to camps bay. That's the proof I have but I am sure that I have gone faster down on other races.

SNAP Marius! I also did a 94km/h in the exact same spot!

I had to brake going into that last hairpin, otherwise I would have broken 100km/h, which I still wanna do!
