DJR Posted February 23, 2019 Share Who in SA keep retro cycling jerseys in stock? I sometimes see a few at Woodstock Cycle Works in Cape Town, but besides for them, which other shops carry a couple? I've recently had some big delays with things bought through EBay and if possible would like to buy local. I'm specifically looking for Eddy Merckx related bits, but will look at others too. RobN Posted February 28, 2019 Share Hi all, I have a de'Lange 653 Reynolds steel bicycle that my uncle gave me, really good condition with full Campagnola set and wheels and Im looking for someone who can appraise it for me here in Cape Town for insurance purposes. First recorded ride was April 1988. Loose cog, danievj, Eppie and 3 others

First recorded ride was April 1988.Talk to Nils Hansen at Woodstock Cycle Works about the value. There are so few de L'anges out there and they simply never come up for sale, and that makes it difficult to answer your question. You can also ask Jared Mahaffey at BMC in Salt River. If you post an accurate list of the exact groupset, wheels and components, maybe some on here would try making a guestimate. From what I can see in the picture, the frame looks like it is in excellent shape. The groupset looks like Campy CRecord 8 speed, wheels are Campy, saddle a Rolls, seatpost looks like a Campy aero. All that makes for a valuable build on a rare collectable high end SA built frame. I think it can locally fetch about the same as an Italian bike of that quality, but remember that our local market is small. On EBay, who knows? There is not a single one advertised. Personally, I think somewhere between R10 and R15 000, but that is somewhat of a thumbsuck. I'm keen to find out what others think.
DJR Posted March 21, 2019 Share Looks like Veloce or Mirage 8spd Dawid. definietly not C Record. If that's the cased then the value comes down substantially Edit: I suppose it was wishful thinking that made me see C Record Edited March 21, 2019 by DJR

RogM Posted March 27, 2019 Share Thanks for the response BB.. So far, indexed steering and front hub. Back hub seems fine. Chains and drivetrain look good, obviously need cleaning, and setting. Seatposts came out easily with Tool in a Can. Most chrome and aluminium bits seem like they will clean up well. Front non drive side pedal broken but usable. Some exposed steel, with a bit of surface rust, but not structural far as I can tell.I'm all for not re-spraying and leaving like is, how best to protect exposed metal? worth trying to match colour and touch-up? Anyway, not bad for a twenty year garage queen...
Loose cog Posted March 28, 2019 Share Cool Peugeot! Go to arts & crafts shop and look at miniature aircraft paints to match color. After good clean apply paint with small paint brush. Takes time but good finish can be achieved. Tricky part matching the paint. Go slightly lighter rather than darker. Takes time but worth it. Loose cog Posted April 24, 2019 Share So over the past few weeks a mate of mine has experimented with having reproduction hoods made for brake levers that we can't readily get locally and have to import. Campagnolo NR/SR and older style Shimano Dura Ace / 600 1st generation hoods were made and a few sold. The feedback has been positive, thank you. I am pleased to advise that more moulds have been made and we are now ready to take orders for the following hoods: Modolo Using the best hood available to us we have made the left/right specific Modolo hoods to fit the Professional, Master, Speedy, Corsa, Team and Superprestige levers. Mafac Again, using the best hood available to us we have made Mafac hoods for the Course and Competition none aero levers from the 60's to 80's Suntour These none aero hoods are for the Superb Pro and Cyclone levers Dura Ace ax These aero hoods are for the ax groupset range and where often found in a powder blue color. We haven't experimented with blue as yet so only available in gum, chocolate brown, brown and black at this stage. We are still taking orders for the following: Campagnolo Hoods for the Nouvo Record/Super Record levers Shimano Hoods for the 1st generation Dura Ace and 600 levers Please place orders by sending me a personal message or WhatsApp (0730693979) for the hoods you require. All hoods will continue to be sold for R485 a pair. The hoods should be ready within the next 10 to 15 days. The colors at the moment are NUDE (these hoods will darken after exposed to the sun and are only suitable for show bikes kept indoors), GUM, BROWN, CHOCOLATE BROWN and BLACK. See pictures but feel free to chat. Edited April 24, 2019 by Loose cog DJR, IH8MUD and seanp
