Awesome job, well done.

The 600 downtube shifters you gave me sit proudly on this one.

The technomic stem is a wee bit long, so I will source a shorter replacement.

Thanks again.

Im afraid it isn't mine (I wish it was). I will find the link and post it here.

Not like you Morpheus, you have such a wonderful array of toys it really would not surprise me if you were to reconstruct a thing of such magnificence.

My Bianchi with 7400 Dura Ace. Can anyone help me identify the frame model?

Jules - it could be a Reparto Corse TSX - is it mid 90s?

Jules

Can't remember where I found this, but I found it somewhere in the interwebs!

It'll help you date the frame anyway.

AND MAYBE GIVE YOU SOME INFO ON YOURS LC

The top three Bianchi bike models from the late 70s to the mid 80s were

the Tipo Corsa, Super Leggera, and Super Corsa, plus the Specialissima

frame set (came in Celeste). The Tipo Corsa used the cheaper Columbus

Alle tubing, and the Super Leggera, Super Corsa and Speciallisima

frameset were made with Columbus SL and Colubus SP depending on the

frame size (I think the over 57cm c-t size frames were SP).

Yes, there was a Specialissima in the 80s but it was sold as a frame

set, not as a complete bike. In the 1960s there was a bike model called

the Specialissima (the few that I have seen were black). I believe this

was the second model down from the team bike (always Celeste).

There was a fairly recent discussion (argument) on the list about the

model name "Specialissima" being interchangeable with the model name

"Super Leggera". A famous (infamous) earlyexlistmember said he had a

1978 Bianchi catalog that showed a "mod. Specialissima Super Leggera" as

proof that the two names were interchangeable. I countered with this

example of a "mod. Specialissima Corsa Professionale"

<http://bulgier.net/p...ianchi1/9h.jpg>

that I believe shows the team bike from 1968 to 1973, to show the names

were not used interchangeably. Incidentally, I would guess that the

Bianchi mod. Super Leggera dates to Campagnolo's introduction of it's

Superleggera parts in 1971.

Bianchi went from the semi flat fork crown to the aero fork crown in

1985 with the introduction of their Centinario 100th anniversary bike.

Two sets of water bottle bosses and semi-sloping dropouts was the early

90s bikes I believe.

Here's the Bianchi catalog scans on Mark Bulgier's web site (linked from

the links page on my www.velo-retro.com web site too). Below are my

best estimates on the dates of the catalogs shown. Anyone have more

accurate date info? Unfortunately the bike specification pages were not

scanned for the catalogs on the site.

LC's Colnago X-lite.

Maybe he's too modest to post it here, or maybe he thinks it's not retro enough.

But she really is a beauty!

Very nice. Elegant.

Very cool ride there. Is that the frame that was for sale a while back?

Thank you Heyyou, I didn't know whether to post here or on the Colnago or Campagnolo forums.

Yes, I bought the frame a few months ago from a hubber in Cape Town. It had a few scratches and a small ding on the top tube so I had the frame touched up. It came out very nice and reminds me of my first Italian bike I ever owned back in +-1981, an Attala.

After buying the frame I needed a group set and wheels so I looked around but the new stuff is so expensive! I then got a good deal on a Bianchi 928 with Record Titanium. I stripped the Bianchi and sold off the frame. I kept the bars but when I looked at putting them on the Master it looked too chunky so I bought a NOS ITM Millennium alu bar and stem.

I still need a seat post and hoping to get another hubber to come down on the price of a Look carbon stem. If not, I will wait until something suitable becomes available. Any advise or offers would be appreciated!

The Eurus wheels are from the Bianchi and look quite modern but not out of place.

The Record Titanium group set works well and was easy to set up. Confession, this is my first external BB and I admit I find it very smooth. I know it is not too retro but will be soon given the pace of technology.

Anyway, how does she ride? Went for a second ride this morning with the missus out around Kyalami and through Midrand back on Maxwell Drive home. The Master climbs well and as I am a climber I enjoyed riding out of the saddle. Sandton is blessed with amazing potholes and the Master is very nimble and twitchy on some of the stretches or road we travelled this morning. Not as easy letting go of the bars as on my Lux Dream but I will get used to the more aggressive handling.

Here are some more photos shown with the missus' C40.

That's a very interesting Master. I have never seen one with rear dropouts like that. Would be interested to know if that was an option or refitted afterwards.

If I remember correctly the original ad for the frame explained the mod to the drop outs...
