Finally finished my Alan Carbonio after finding a crank and RD.

Oh that is pretty.

Are those Ambrosio rims? I had a pair of red ambrosio rims on gipiemme special hubs on a Carlton track bike, they were beautiful.

Yes, Ambrosio Excellence Durex's. Still my favourite modern wheels!

Hey guys

New to bike restoring so hope its okay i post a few questions

At the moment i have a 1960 Alpina and a late 80's peugeot that I'm working on

I need brake hoods for both, Alpina has Shimano, Peugeot has Suntour groupset

Pics attached

While I'm here I'm also looking for white and/or yellow brake housing?

If i can source this items in SA that would be great

Try Woodstock cycles, they may have some Shimano hoods. Alternative is to import hoods.

BTW the Alpina looks a mid 80's model and not 60's. Post some more pics for a clearer view.

Ok cool thanks! will try woodstock cycles

I bought the Alpina last week and the guy said it was his grandfathers and claimed it to be from around that era

OK, the Alpina looks older. I was basing my comments on the brake levers which would appear to be an "upgrade" to the bike in the mid to late 80's.

I would recommend you search the net to establish and date the older parts of the gruppo to get a more accurate date of the frame.
