DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share I think Ill post some detail before and after pictures together, so you can see the transformation close up! (Some pics are mine, some from BMC) Fixie, Busker and Hairy
DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share The wheels were totally shot, so it was stripped and the rims and hubs re-chromed. Then it was re-built with new spokes and bearings. (Some pics are mine and some from BMC)
DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share Saddle before & after. Jared scavenged the leather part from another saddle and transplanted it to the frame of this bikes' saddle, making his own copper rivets and treating it all with lots of Dubbin. Check the 1968 bicycle licence. Edited June 6, 2013 by DJR Hairy and Fixie
DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share Before & after of the cranks & pedals. Even the pedals were re-built with new bearings, but using the old rubber bits. The chain was still fine, it looks thick enough to pull a motorbike. Edited June 6, 2013 by DJR

DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share Looks amazing.Just out of interest, who did the re-chroming? Give me some time, I'll find out for you.
DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share This is the magnificent end result! Good for another 100 years and thousands of Moonlight Mass rides. Jared even put slime in the tubes because removing the wheels to fix a puncture will be a bit of a pain. No quick releases, brakes in the way, mudguards in the way......This weekend we have to build something to mount it on the wall in the owners' bedroom! (Deon) Posted June 6, 2013 Share How long before his feet reach the pedals? I suppose he could get a leg through the front triangle..

Fixie Posted June 6, 2013 Share Still gives us goosebumps to see the transformation during restorations. Thank you so much for posting this! Chrome-work was done by Glitterama. They take a while and have to be checked up on a bit but always do a great job. Make sure you keep all small bolts etc together so nothing vital is lost during dipping.  JaredBMC Spoke n Bean and BuffsVintageBikes

You have any experience with these issues?
Hairy Posted June 6, 2013 Share This is one absolutely amazing project and if any of the local mags are reading this they should pic up on this project ASAP!
DJR Posted June 6, 2013 Share So much for posting this over a few days, I was too excited to wait! One last picture taken by Kerrythe from BMC - the refection of the bike in a puddle on the sidewalk. Super photograph and in tune with the artistry that went into the project! Spoke n Bean, BuffsVintageBikes, Gunzo and 1 other
