I have been using Muscle Science supplements for the past two years on a daily basis.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The supplements that I use (which are mostly for recovery after training) are:

 - Optimum Anabolic

 - Whey Supreme

 - Creatine Supreme

 - Staminade Endure

With my last couple of purchases, I had problems with the quality of Creatine Supreme and Staminade Endure.

Both these supplements contained "rock"-like hard pieces, as well as big hard chucks of the supplements that started to crystallize, almost as if it did not mix properly during the production process. (I even found a piece of "press wood" in my last tub of Creatine Supreme!)

I have contacted Muscle Science about my concern, and they did replace the products that I had queries about. However, my most recent purchase still had the same quality problems, and even some of the replacements they sent me had quality issues!

These supplements are not cheap at all (it cost me about R 700.00 per month just for supplements). I don't think I will use Muscle Science supplements any more, and they way I feel right now, I will not recommend Muscle Science products to anyone!

Does any of you hubbers that also use Muscle Science, experienced similar problems?

You are wasting R700 a month on useless suplements. You dont need any of those to "recover"

What do you need then to "recover"?

I used the staminade one to train with, sofar havent found any wood in there

What would you suggest one use for recovery then?

I agree with him. Why pay X amount for a whey protein supplement when you can get more protein than youre body requires from a normal balanced diet? Creatine is more hype than anything else and its got no effect whatsoever on recovery.

I used Muscle Science for years and had no problems, still using Staminade.

Not sure if you know the history.

The company Muscle Science was started by 2 body builders (Mario & can't remember his name at this moment), Mario pulled out about 2 years ago and strated a new supplement company called SSN and the other guy recently sold Muscle Science to a pharmisutical company.

If you want to switch brands I'd recommend SSN or EVOX.

What ever you do just stay away from USN & Biogen (which is USN with a red label and exclusively sold at Dis Chem & they also starting to sell at Cycle Lab)

I have heard from too many people to stay away from USN and Biogen, so it is a no-go!

I threw away half a container of Staminade as it turned rock hard after not being used for a month. As for the rest, have not had any issues with their other products

Why do you say one must not use USN?

I have used it in the past but have not had any side effects.

PM me if you do not want to make it public

I also recommend Evox's supplements, try the V4 creatine ethyl ester instead of the normal monohydrate stuff, it's the best i've used... Their Synergy whey protein is also very good if you're carb sensetive and want to restrict caloric intake in the evenings for instance... Their flavours are also more pallatable than other company's stuff...

This is a serious statement to make. I have used USN in the past as well without any harmful effects. Why would you say I should stay away from USN products? PM me if you feel you dont want to open a can of worms here.

It has been proven that taking protein and carbs (1g - 1.5g per kg body weight) in a 1:4 ratio within 30min of completion of a streneous training session, will aid recovery.

I don't overdo the whole "protein" thing. I follow a balanced diet - 65% carbs, 15% protein and 20% fat.

If you train 16hrs a week you do need something to help with recovery so that you can be ready for the next days training session.

Indeed. But why pay big bucks when you can do so much cheaper....smooties, fruit juice, peanut butter...etc. And it tastes so much better.

My big problem is time in the morning after training - it is just so much quicker to mix the supplements than to prepare a meal. I only use supplements before, during and after training. During the rest of the day I eat real/normal food to meet my body's energy demands.
