I had all the same questions regarding tubeless wheels as you noche. I did some research and thought i'd try the ghetto version 1st. Searched some video clips on youtube as a guide and tried it out. I got it right on the second go, with a foot pump. The rule of thumb here is - lotsa soapy water. I was using non tubeless rims and non tubeless tyres and sealed it with tubeless sealant (cant remember the name). Works shweet!

I did citrusdal race saturday, and had a couple of bad knocks but could have resulted in bad snake bites ,but had done tubeless conversion kit 3 weeks ago,and not sorry.Complete kit was R 968.00 inclusive and done it myself.

next step is tubeless rims.

just go for it,do not even consider

Just some FYI but Builders Warehouse have a compressor on special for R1K ... really tempted to get one for those tubless conversions.

Save your munny and put it towards 2bliss rims.

Dont even need a bomb to inflate 2bliss tyres on 2bliss rims

Ive riding for 3 years. Had tubeless from the beginning. No flats in 3 years except cutting my sidewall on 2 occasions. Cutting a sidewall will put you out regardless of what you ride so that does not count. No snake bites no flats from thorns ect in 3 years. That is peace of mind

PS: i dont even run tubeless tires. Just normal tires or tubeless ready tires sometimes

Search around on the web, not all non tubeless tires should be run as tubeless due to thinner / weaker sidewalls but there's quite wide selection you can use no problem.

I have a non-UST WTB Wolverine up front on a Tubeless rim which I run tubeless with Stans and I have not put one iota of air into since converting it months ago. The rear, however, packed in as I was riding it too flat and the rim stuffed up the sidewall.

If you are tight on cash, go ghetto tubeless and use a non-UST tire.

Ok, bringing back an old thread, but Im gonna drop the wheels off at the LBS today.

Final Questions:

1. I weigh 90kg's, will this affect the tubeless??

2. Which tyres??? I am considering a mountain king upfront and a race king at the back???
