The training aspect. I'm still recovering from a bicep femoris tendon injury and doing gym training and building the base with alot of core strength training, leg power and some upper body training.

Just the thought of one day getting back on the bike and to be ready to start building again and moving towards race form.

The diet the training and everything to be ready when I feel ready. Being healthy and staying motivated keeps me going even more.

So apart from riding, I learned the other aspects of cycling - keeping strong and balancing the body out.

o ja - I still wax my legs just to help me remember that i'm still a cyclist. LOL

cycling 230km because someone asked me to, commiting to cycle another 200km three months later because someone else asked me to.  Cycling in 24hr events because "someone asked me to".  Cycle to work, to keep sane.  Mtb in the evening and over weekends because friends don't let friends cycle alone.

Sheesh Im going to try not make this sound as morbid as KonafanWink

 I get up at 5to ride before work so that I can still have a full social life and be a friend to my mates. I get up at 5 on saturdays and do a 3hour road ride so that I can have breakfast with friends at a cool spot in town and then go ride trails at tokai without wearing a Heartrate monitor or even putting my Garmin on.

Getting up early to ride is not easy, I have to admit. But Being outside comes natural to me, I need it and If I dont ride I wil go climb the mountain, If that doesnt happen Im swimming with some other peeps or even just taking a walk on a trail with some girls trying to get the bum ready for summerWink

Roadies wont understand this and it sounds corny but?.

<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Finding a new trail with a steep section you chickened out on first time.

Activating the stomach nerves when you think about it (the same ones that make that make you want to pooh on race day mornings) and then going back week after week trying the same section until you make it all the way or just a bit further down......

I went for a ride on Sunday morning ON THE ROAD and I did almost soil my bib-shorts with a hill that I had to climb up. I did make it to the top, but baled on the rest of the ride as my legs were dead/deceased/late/stuffed.

There are some Roadies who do understand this. It is us old, unfit buggers (me) that know what you mean.

Well my asthma and weight is my main motivation.Cycling keeps it under control - lost 10kg (from 102kg to 92kg) since March and used my asthma preventer pump 10times since March (use to be twice a day).

I also enjoy the solitude and break from having to think while I'm out on the bike. Being a developer and studying part-time my brain seldom rests.

Also the price of petrol is also keeps me going. Used the wifes car for 2 weeks again and was shocked out how much petrol I was using to get to work (only 6km from home).

But I also just love all you Hubbers [and everyone goes Aaaahhhh thats so sweet]
