Racing Ralph go for ?R500 on the internet and R800 in a bike shop. Nobby Nic in front is great for wet single trac, but you have a lot of resistance from the big knobs on the tire.

Rad' date=' the most popular setup that Ive seen around is a conti mountain king on front and a speed king on the back.

Would anyone else agree??[/quote']

I've actually got a Race King on the back and a Mountain King up front.

well i've currently got larsen TT's on and my opinions is that wear's quick.

i have always had my eye on Hutchinsons Python's , but looks like the price might be the problem.

Trust me Crossmarks are not good in mud! I've heard good things about the smallblocks.

I used Crossmarks for 2 years straight. In this 2 years I had only 3 punctures, this was mostly because my stans wasnt sufficient (dried up and had not been filled) , I was running LUST on the rear and a Folding in front- both converted stans. I rode them HARD! I have a 5'' bike which I rode xc and trail, read my "signature" below, those who know me know its true.

I was getting bored and bought smallblock8's, nevegals, WTB's and Bontragers.

guess what..

I wish I had just stuck to the Crossmark.

It is "enough" for all situations If you claim they are bad in myd, show me a tire thats grips great in mud and I will show you how to go faster with the crossmark- It has a lot to do with skill and confidence. Keith, have you ridden a smallblock 8 in mud?? you dont want to, it clogs which makes it HEAVY and grip disapears.

So If you want a fit and forget tire, the crossmarks are hard to beat, they are though as nails- great in most conditions, roll fast ans dont wear quick. Youll go far to try and get that in a tire.

I have heard good things about specialised tires- I might try them next

Bos I'm obviously not skilled enough then because my crossmarks hate the mud! I haven't ridden the smallblocks myself, just heard they are good in dry stuff.

Ja, before I got the bike I got now, it was a tough choice between that and the Mongoose Canaan Comp.. and the 'Goose came with small block tyres which they say are perfect for dry conditions but make you 'slip n slide' in the wet, which put me off those tyres

Karma's . Not any one of the other tyres mentioned here can give you the ALL terrain performance that a Karma gives you . Sure it wears quickly but thats the price you pay .

small stones get cought between the knobs of the Crossmarks and you've got a constant clinging sound of sand being flung against your down tube aswell as a flinging it up behind you. I hate riding behind people that has them fitted on the back.
