I have just fitted Racing Ralph back and Nobby Nic front. I read a lot of reviews and finally decided on this combination. When it gets muddy' date=' go for Nobby Nic on back as well. Please remember, I am no authority on Mtbking, just my 2c worth. 20091122_032227_IMAG0253.jpg smiley1.gif [/quote']

Ya, just put the nics on both front and back, and must say was really impressed with thier handling in the mud.  however, after my race this weekend, some of the nobs are tearing a bit and they seem to cut fairly easily.  so depending on where you ride (if its lots of small rocks, roots etc) they really good!

My uncle rides the fasttrack and he is super happy' date=' nice tyres, way better than crossmarks[/quote']

This spez fastrack) is the next tire Im riding, light, brobably grips the same as most fast rolling light tires (alright) but apparently they are really tough aswell.

Conti's, dont seem to last + expence + But they do grip best

Shwable- dunno , but I rate them the same as above.

Smallblock 8 foldable- converted (high on my list for rear tires)

Maxxis.. well you can ride most of them foldable tires converted which saves weight.  Im not so crazy about the monorail as others have been. they dont work well on grit & gravel corners( but are managable) Crossmarks are so dependable that they are boring Wink

what else. mm WTB makes good treads but Cant be used 2bliss which counts them out for me. (unless of course you get the 2bliss version which Im still to find)

blah blah blah

smiley5.gif ok so from what I understand , if it rains those with dry tyres stays home and if it does not those with mud tyres does the same and not to mention getting into a sand section without your sand tyres !!! WTF get Kenda Karma and you can do what some of us like to call MTB'ing ! These tyres does all conditions , terrain fairly good .

I ride two types of tyre, the Specialized 2bliss LK, works really well, Good for hard pack, great in the wet and terrible on mud.

It does not clean well, so in the van gaalens mud/clay it was not the right tyre. But if the weather is wet, i.e. raining, the moisture allows the tyre to clean an the dual compound works really well.

In summary, its my dry bias tyre.

My wet bias tyre is the Karma. It cleans well, rolls well, and in the 1.9 format ust, a great cutter. Its works in all conditions, just the narrow tyre on the loose rock needs a little more attention.

I rode crossmarks, small block 8 monorails, Mimo, nobbly nics, conti race kings. I just settled on the above as value for money.

Bontrager Jones XR Team 2.0 Tubeless Ready so either sealant or tube can be used. Only 485g a tyre !

They do wear allot on tar and the tread is small so its is a dry condition race tyre - I have ridden in mud, clears well but grip is dodgy, rode very very low pressure then which did help.

Sidewall is strong though so I've had no issues with cutting etc. while riding the rocky bits in Groenkloof and elsewhere.

The Best tyres out there are the Geax Barro Mountain.... @ sets not 1 puncture, on steep climbs on XC races you can stand and climb and the wheels don't spin out. Awesome Tyres
