jmaccelari Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Just a note to let fellow Hubbers know that Bertus Kruger was involved in a serious incident during his ride with the Illovo group this morning. We were going down Club Street in Linksfield when he stood up to pedal, his foot slipped and he went over the handle bars at about 40kph. He has sustained serious head injuries and was unconscious when Netcare took him away to Union Hospital. Thanks to all the Illovo guys who looked after him and kept him safe until the ambulance arrived. Thanks also go to Netcare for their rapid response. And **** you to the guy in the bakkie who swore at the car driver who parked in the middle of the road to protect Bertus and us while we were tending to him...

There is some bleeding on his brain, but the prognosis is good - Eugene says most of the doctor's patients with this type of injury walk out... He is piped up and has been put into a coma until tomorrow when we will hopefully get another update. Looks like positive news!

He might have been pissed off about sitting in traffic due to the accident but that still doesn't give him (or anybody else for that matter) to swear at people blocking off the road. No touching of wheels, no cars - just shows that anything can happen to any of us at any time. Be safe out there, peeps. Most importantly, get better soon, Bertus. flex Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 is he ok - any news? He is in a drug induced coma with face trauma, bleeding and swelling on the brain. More will be known tomorrow hopefully, when he wakes up. He is in ICU but was stable when I last spoke to Jeremy earlier today.

His eye socket and jaw both require extensive work. So now we wait...
