So Groentrui, what is the outcome.???

I understand that he was called on Monday to be told that his bike was ready, to which his response was: "Oh ok."

Would be interesting to know what an accepted response would have been. Normally '#&@#^@^@#($@$' is frowned upon. With bad service the customer is always left between a rock and a hard place. I have never dealt with this shop but the fact remains that

a) If you commit to something you make sure the customer is kept informed if things change. Since he is paying for your milk and bread it's only good manners

b) You don't just close shop without giving the customer an opportunity to take his goods, fixed or not.

No BigJ/GrootB I don't, but Epic Sports is one of 3 bike shops in Gauteng where I have always had excellent service. The other two are West Rand Cycles and Fritz Pienaar in Hatfield.

It just irks me when people shoot their mouths off about bad service, most of the time unjustified or based on one experience. What I find even more irksome is the fact that other hubbers, who have not even used the shop in question, then jump on the band wagon and label the shop as bad.

The same thing happened a few months ago with West Rand Cycles when someone complained bitterly about a paint job that they arranged through CycleArt.This later also turned out to be without foundation.

Sure, no shop is ALWAYS perfect. We do, however, only get one side of the story on the Hub.

I also think it has a lot to do with attitude. The attitude displayed by some Hubbers leaves a lot to be desired and sometimes it does not surprise me that service providers do not bend over backwards for them.

But then ..... remember..... the CUSTOMER is ALWAYS right!!!!!!

BigH, Jagwil... not true....  The customer is never WRONG...  sometimes miss informed but never wrong...

To say the customer is always right is taking it a bit far.

It is an accepted business principle taught to everybody that works in retail.

Behold the proverbs of a nation. ‥Let one hand wash the other. The customer is always right.
[1928 C. Sandburg Good Morning, America 17]

That the customer is always right is a theory attributed to John Wanamaker, the American retail prince who founded the stores which bear his name.
[1980 Times 30 Sept. 9]

The great success of a restaurant is built up on this principle?le patron n'a jamais tort?the customer is always in the right!
[1917 B. Pain Confessions of Alphonse iii.]
