I rode one of the Sky bikes briefly on Saturday, I was uper impressed, between the one I rode and the Prince, it felt like two totally different bike companies.

Ultimately an awesome bike but beeeeeeeg $$$$$$$

If I remember correctely Christie posted some results from tests they did on this and other bikes. The Pinarello didnt do very good. It were the heaviest of all the top end bikes, and it failed the stiffness test. Not worth the money...at all.

I rate this bike big time. Had a PRINCE myself and it was a great ride. The only thing that puts me off about the Dogma is the glittery paint job. But hey, for a bike like that I guess you can live with a little glitter.

Mud Dee is correct in what he is saying though, the Dogma did not score very well in that independant test. But thats only one persons view...I've read reviews to the contrary where they claim its fantastic.

If this is a bike your considering, you wont regret it.

Sis man, I have not dropped any names smiley2.gif

As for the bike, I don't really care about tests, it rides very nice, regardless of tests.

In audio often the best sounding components get the worst test figures on the test bench, but they make music.

In my personal opinion, I can't see how you can justify a R165k price tag for this bike. If you compare it to other top end bikes that carry identical specs in respect of groupset, wheels etc; then the only remaining difference is in the frame. And yet other superbikes, e.g. Bianchi 928SL, Time RXR Ulteam etc., cost R50k less than this bike.

Surely the carbon technology can't be that different and more expensive compared to these other top brands?

I hear you FLEX...and i do tend to agree. For instance, the new Colnago EPS with Super Record will cost you R60k less than the Dogma...and it recieved much better reviews as a complete bike! (ok, that was my unashamed punt for the day!)

Not sure on this whole pricing thing, Glorycycles.com have the a frame set for $ 5500,00 and a Eddie Merckx AXM for $ 4800,00 a whopping $700,00 less.

The difference is in the profit margin.

Like I have said before, it is a fairly good bike, but its main selling points are unique looks and a price tag the general public can't afford - the perfect poser bike.

Imo the engineering & technology of Pinarello is not quite the best on the market - other bikes by Trek, Cannondale, Specialized etc are as stiff, and more comfortable, for less weight. I doubt that anybody who paid R150k for a Dogma would believe that, though.

The Dogma frameset tested by Tour magazine weighed 1848 grams, for a size 57. Compare this to a Cannondale CAAD 9 aluminium frame/carbon fork, which weighs 1827 grams, for example, or 1237 grams for a Scott Addict frameset.

(Tour's frameset mass includes headset, in all 3 cases, which is about 60g)

Not that weight matters that much, with trick components the Dogma could be built fairly light. Just as long as people don't claim it is a "better" bike, it is mostly a "more expensive" bike.
