Sorry about my media rant' date=' the article is just poorly written, actually very poorly... 911 can at least have someone check their press releases...

Reminded me of how my race reports and stories turn out after being 'edited' by the media...

no worriesLOLyou do have a point: media organisations shouldn't run press releases as is without doing some work on their own. also, there has been such a "juniorisation" of sub-editing staff on many publications that so much is, as you say, poorly edited.

Ricky has been discharged from hospital.

He is at home and already complaining that his bed is not as comfy as the hospital's!

He asked me to please post a "Thank you" for all the wishes.

So, Thank you everybody, it is much appreciated. From Ricky and Rocky Smile

He has been booked off until at least the 19th when he'll see the doctor again.

His hands are in splints so won't be able to "hub" for a while!

I'm sure he'll have lots to tell you when he gets back...

We will try and stay out of the hospitals from now on, they are interfering with our riding time. Have been on my MTB since the 22 Dec 09.

Just got this E-mail from a mate. Think its probably Ricky Bobby. Is it? How's he doing?

Off-road cyclist critically injured

A 31 year old cyclist sustained critical injuries at an off- road track in the Bryanston area this morning. It is believed that the cyclist was training at the track and as he crossed a wooden bridge and he had to negotiate a very steep embankment with a sharp bend at the bottom.

The cyclist lost control and smashed into a large tree at the bottom of the hill. He was flung through the air and landed in the thick overgrowth. Fortunately he did not loose consciousness and managed to phone for help. Netcare 911 paramedics arrived within minutes of receiving the call and had to clamber down the steep slippery embankment with all their equipment to get to the patient.

Realising the seriousness of the injuries and the difficulty of getting him out of the ravine, the fire services and the Netcare medical helicopter was activated. Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise the critically wounded man while fireman set up a rope rescue system with a specialised rescue stretcher to hoist the paramedics and patient back up the hill.

The patient was then handed over to a trauma doctor and then loaded into the helicopter. He was airlifted to the Netcare Sunning hill Hospital for further medical care.
