not all road pro's are gentlemanly, Mark Renshaw head butting his way out of the tour.

and ease off the nasty chat!

True but one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch ;)

What nasty chat.

Huh, I get called a troll for no apparent reason and can't defend myself, gotta love communism.

It's called THE HUB, the home of smack talk, get used to it.

You are comparing equipment and not the racing.

At a race like the TDF a second could separate the winner from second place this coming Sunday (as I said could)

Why don't they race on the last day ?

In a MTB race you don't sit ,locked in bunches when you are racing up front, especially not when everyone else has been on the ropes.

No, there are vast time gaps and again MTB racing has it's own set of "unwritten rules" and sometimes this means that you will get to the end regardless of what your competitor goes through.

In mountainbiking the term "bad luck" can almost be synonymous with "I had a good day"

These guys aren't separated by mere seconds, but by minutes.

MTB slogan, "I will win whatever it takes"

The road pro's are more gentlemanly about things.

Should Contadrol have stopped, heavens, he didn't "have to" by any ruling.

Racing is racing and he took a very strong approach.

Did he have to lie afterwards and say that he had no idea as to what was going down, no he did not have to go down that road, what a dufus.

I for one would feel quite bad wearing the jersey just as a result of someone else's misfortune, in the end of the day it boils down to one's character.

As I said, have you ever seen them race the last day of the tour for the first place in the last few years ?

Why not ?

Road Racing and MTB racing are worlds apart...there is no direct way to compare them.

Road Racing is a rolling chess game with breakaways - MTB is more mano e mano one on one racing.

Road Racing has vehicles with mechanics, food, water, equipment, doctors - you can pretty much order up a cheese burger with frites and your DS will cook it up. MTB is man alleen in the wilderness - no back up - no mecahnics. Perhaps a tech zone and water stop if you're lucky.

Road Racing is about a zillion years old and steeped in tradition, unwritten rules and gentleman's agreements - MTB is a relative puppy where old school just doesn't exist (apart from those Bridgestone MB1 bikes with steel forks).

Road Racing is a team sport, MTB individual.

Road Racing has realtively few mechanicals, MTB has loads.

The only thing in common is two wheels and a rider - the rest is chalk and cheese.

At last someone who understands.

Thanks TROLL.

i think so, yes - no OUTSIDE assistance is allowed.

also, with mechanicals, only your teammates are allowed to give parts/bikes

One of the fun things about le Tour is that there are more unwritten rules than written rules...

No attacking yellow if he has been struck by bad luck.

No attacking during a break "au naturel".

No attacking through a feedzone.

If you puncture you can draft back to the bunch using the convoy.

If you're a sprinter the autobus is for you.

You may finish outside of the time limit if you convince enough other sprinters to ride as slow as you in the mountains.

You can hit some guy over the head with your front wheel after the stage but if you hit him in the head with your head during the stage you're out (can you tell I'm running out of ideas?)

Always match the colour of your bike/helmet/shorts/gloves/shoes to your jersey if it's a different colour to your teams. This includes national champ jerseys.

Don't try and get into a break if you're high up on GC.

No sprinting for intermediate sprints and mountains points if you're not in contention for that specific competition - intermediate points (and the related cash) should be shared equally between breakaways riders.

The winner should take no cut of his prize money - it gets shared equally between his team (interesting fact - Lance doubled this amount out of his own pocket after one of his wins).

No breakaway will go on Bastille Day without a french rider in it. This yeat two french riders had to play catch up to the break after a break was established with no french riders.

Thy shalt not accuse Lance of doping - remember him chasing down Simeoni whilst clad in yellow?

OK I'm out of ideas...
