That doesn't mean we should disparage someone who knows less about our particular specialist topic. Agreed, if you work in a bike shop you should at least attempt to learn about your products, but that also comes with experience. How much experience can a laaitie have and how much training can the average bike shop give the person? There's not much training available out there as it is, just the product brochures. With the type of wages a sales assistance earns, you can hardly expect the shop to throw wizened old clever geezers at customers. I prefer not to get smart-ass with salespeople anymore. It's an age thing, I'm definitely better now than when I was younger. Back then I was conceited, now I'm perfect. Chill Petoors, it was an interesting story. Trispoke Posted August 22, 2007 Share Quite often the sales people really don't know where the bikes are manufactured, as the manufacturers try not to let the cat out of the bag if it is built anywhere but Europe or the USA. And with many manufacturers having some of their bikes made in Taiwan and other made in Europe, it is getting more difficult by the day. And even if components and frames are manufactured in the same facility, it does not mean that the specs are the same, therefore an Oval product can be better than a Ritchey product, even if they have the same origin. I don't think most sales people intend to cheat you or lie to you - it is more often than not a case of limited knowledge. So if you know what you want, go and find it. Haha...but since the guys in the shops STILL insist on thinking that we know nothing...maybe we should organise a little girls'-outing sometime and target a few bike shops and let them have a piece of our minds - i mean - 10 girls can be a bit much if they're all babbling away...
