sias Posted August 27, 2010 Share if the state employees don't like it, find something else, we have all been in jobs that were rotten, and the odds are we all thought bugger this and moved on. The state is the only place where fatness, laziness, incompetence and a general **** you attitude is accepted and even the norm, and is rewarded... joe moer Posted August 27, 2010 Share Joe you sound like you have some cash to spare. But just in case you have not noticed there is no middle class left in South Africa, we all became poor when we were forced into subsidizing the poor to the extent that - well we are now seeking subsidy which is not forthcoming. So I 'll have to forego on that extra tax that you are suggesting because frankly I just can't afford it anymore. heyi also said more pay then more tax
sias Posted August 27, 2010 Share Yes joe moer - increase the tax base - not the load on your current base!!!I received this the other day. I'm putting it on and will probably be branded as a racist (again), but here goes...OK I have decided to put a South African spin to an old story so Blackscanunderstand what happens to taxes, tax cuts and what happens when Whitesleave. Suppose there are ten men who go to dinner every night. Six of them areBlack, one Coloured, one Indian and two Whites. The one White guy ismiddleclass and the other is rich. If they paid their bill the way wepayour taxes, it would go something like this: The bill comes to R1000, but four Blacks pay nothing, they eat for freeevery night. Two Blacks pay a share of R20 and R30 each. The Colouredguypays R100, the Indian pays R150, the middle class White guy pays R200andthe rich White guy pays R500.Everything went well. The ten men ate happily every night until one daytherestaurant owner said that they were such good customers he was going togive them a break so he reduced the bill by R200. (In tax language a taxcut). So the first four Black guys were basically unaffected by this and stillatefor free, but the six others started thinking about how they would splittheR200 cut in the Bill so everyone would get his fair share.R200 divided by six would mean R33.33 each. But if they subtracted thatfromeverybody's share, then the two paying Blacks would end up being PAID toeattheir meal. So the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair toreduce each man's bill by roughly the same proportional amount, and heproceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.So the first paying Black guy that night only had to pay R16, the secondpaying Black guy only paid R24, the coloured guy paid R80, the IndianguyR120, the middleclass White guy paid R160 and the rich White guy paidR400instead of his usual R500. Each of the original six paying ones werebetteroff than before. The first four Black guys still got their meal forfree. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.Thefirst paying black said he only got R4 from the R200. The second Blackguysaid he only saved R6. The Coloured and the Indian guys were a bitgrumpythat they only got R20 and R30 off their usual bill, but otherwise theywerehappy that they paid less that night.Wait a minute, yelled the first four Black men in unison, We didn't getanything at all. The system exploits the poor!?The Blacks looked at the middle class White guy who got R40 from theR200discount and the rich White guy who got a wopping R100 and they becamebitter about it. So the six Blacks surrounded the two White guys, beatthemup and stole what they had on them. The next night the men met again for dinner, but noticeably absent werethetwo White men who decided to go to another restaurant and not eat withthemanymore. At first nobody missed the two White guys and they all sat downandate without them, but then the bill came and to their horror theydiscoveredthat they were now R560 short of paying their bill. Imagine that! And that, dear fellows, is how it works when you tax White people todeath, beat them up and steal from them. They will just not show up at thetableanymore and will just decide to go have dinner somewhere else, whichmeansthat you will be on your own and will have to pay all the bills yourselfandthere will be no more free lunches, you will catch rats and scratch industbins just like in Zimbabwe after the Whites have left. Six of them areBlack, one Coloured, one Indian and two Whites. The one White guy ismiddleclass and the other is rich. If they paid their bill the way wepayour taxes, it would go something like this:  the problem with your analogy is that the blacks make up 70% of population and only a nominal amount are middle to upper class the remaining 30% produce 90% of formal gdpso if you can increase either informal gdp or the tax base then gdp grows as does the spend per capita which theoretically will produce wealththe whole problem is that a model of economics whichpropogates this type of thinking does not ncare to rememdber that the 20% of the world's population consumes 80% of its resources.this obviously inflates prices in a world where supply and demand are the controlling factors of price. this then puts basic resources out of the reach of yhe common man.... this may appear to be snot but one has only to look at the amount of money contributed as foreign aid- there is a shortfall betwwen what govts spend what is required to provide for the safety and security of the poormore specifically how can we as humanity let people suffer....but hey i'm a red ecomentalist with fascist inclinationsi'm also retired at 35whats your story mate The bill comes to R1000, but four Blacks pay nothing, they eat for freeevery night. Paddaman Posted August 27, 2010 Share After reading through all this rubbish, I have never read such selfcentred, insensistive drivel before. What is interesting is that everyone CONDEMNED the soldiers when they went on a small harmless demonstration in front of the Union buildings to highlight the fact that they were (and still are) the lowest paid state employees, dispite all the dangers they face that others do not. No-one was hurt in these domonstrations (except the soldiers when the police shot at them.) THE result of that demonstrations was that soldiers salaries and beneifits have almost been brought on par with the rest of teh civil service. THE irony is that the rest of the civil service is now striking for more (and people are getting hurt) and (the best part of it all) the very same soldiers (and SAMHS) staff that still are paid less have been called in to protect and stabilise the hospitals. (these are the same people that did it the last time the hospital staff went on strike, and they still have not received the promised overtime for that, the same people that bailed the SAPS out during the world cup, and who were paid almost half the allowances that their police counter parts were paid).  So it is now easy to predict that the SANDF unions may lose it again and ask politely that they get compensated for pulling the country out of the dwang again. firewolf Posted August 27, 2010 Share This is the reality of action to achieve an end goal; it makes sense to some, while to others it is very threatening.
