Next year you can ride with one of these and share your tunes with the riders around you.

Just imagine the "noise" at the star when every second rider has one of these on his/her bike! Not to speak of some people taste in music...

One of the benefits of mtb-biking is getting away from all noise and buzzing of the city, would want to spoil the nice outdoorsy feeling with music pumping from my handle bars. For training rides in and around town it will be nice...So you don't get hit by a bus you did not hear coz of your ear-phones.

MoorwoodMad's team would never have caught any of the other teams if they played that song on one of these!

The other okes would have fled in horror!

What price will they be going for Brad?

Have to agree there, if someone had speakers on their handlebars anywhere near me I'd be forced to rip them off and stand on them. If you want tunes on your bike, use headphones. The rest of us don't want to hear it. Especially not in the inevitably horrendous quality a tiny overdriven speaker will produce.

Man, I love this thing!! It's awesome!

Thanks again Brad, for such a professional service at the Trans Baviaans, not just to the organisers, but the riders too!! You are awesome and we look forward to seeing you there next year!

Somewhat true - these are not for everyone / every riding situation.

I think its great for solo training or riding with your buddies who share your taste in music.

Earphones and bicycles are not a good idea from a safety perspective, especially in traffic.

And I think you'd be surprised at the sound quality that comes out of these.

I can't believe some people will ride with the speaker pod thing (or headphones)! My only 'peaceful' time is my 2-3 hrs on the bike, BUT, I do live in the countryside and I suppose if I had to ride in the city things might be different.

Hey it was my pleasure - it was awesome to be involved in such a great event.

If I ever see one of these things in a race, I'd tell the orginisers to ban it or they will not see me the following year. Please don't market this as something that will enhance your racing experience. I mountainbike to connect with my friends, connect with nature and to connect with myself. A beatbox is not going to assist with any of these.

I took the amp and 6x9s out my bakkie and put the them on a rack. Did the argus and cranked the tjoons the whole way. Was a rad time, but wouldn't use them on amtb ride.

Go ahead and list all the other items that 'died with the Baviaans'

I died a little up Bergplaas (look for the souvenir that I left behind near the last green water tank on the left).

Apart from that, another teammate suffered from sense of humour failure just before checkpoint 2.

My other teammate got a hole in his brand new Conti Race Kings just after check point 1 that we had to plug. He died a little on the chase back to the front bunch (and was the cause of the above mentioned sense of humour failure).

Didn't have any issues with Magic Lights, but then again, none of us used them.

I agree, they are bright, but we will se how many are still in working order a year from now. Remember these lights only came out this year.

The first batch of Magiclights has been around on SA trails for over a year now including being used at last years Trans Baviaans.

My very first unit is still going strong after having taken some serious abuse. Its now used as a demo unit for those wanting to try out night riding, and has even been a guinea pig for being fully submersed underwater.

Its still fully functional with the same brightness and no obvious decrease in battery capacity.

Some of them do fail, as is the case with any product. The real question is what happens when it fails? How well is the product backed up? I continually hear stories of lights and other accessories (costing way more than these) that fail, leaving consumers high and dry with ridiculous quotes to have their stuff repaired or replaced.

You clearly have some sort of personal vendetta against Magiclights.

What's up?
