To try and answer all the questions...

Slogger: This is an actual brand and not something I did myself, I just got the unbranded frame as a sample. They will do personalised brands as well (like Airstreeem), but this is their actual brand. I am not sure if they own the mould/design for the frames or if they are standard frames, but haven't seen any similar designs from other brands (incl. Ebay unbranded frames).

Not sure which saddle you're talking about, but did 3,5 hours on the road bike on saturday and the saddle was awesome (takes a little while to get used to, but once you've settled in, it's extremely comfortable - a friend who rides one says the exact same thing about his). Had to put my old I-beam post and saddle on to the MTB coz I needed a 400mm post so haven't used that saddle yet.

Sharkie 2: No shops at this stage, I import them myself, but haven't taken the time to approach any shops yet, want to keep it all on a small scale for now so will only order frames if there is demand for them.

Santa C: The frame in 17" weighs 1250g so probably about 1300 odd for the 19" (pure guess though). The wheels are 1670g Edge XC230's... Guess it's just a nice, balanced build. No ultra weight weenie stuff, but also no excess weight anywhere on it.

Samma: If you are interested in any point, I can always check stock availability and see what I can do...

Put some mileage on both bikes over the past few days and they are both absolutely awesome. The road bike handles much better in high speed corners than my Specialized did and climbs incredible well - presumably due to the low weight (my Spesh was a 2006 model so not comparing to current models). What can I say about the MTB, there's no better feeling than riding on the hills of table mountain on a sub-10kg bike and everything seems to just work perfectly together (the groupset is awesome although I run out of gears at about 50km/h, the fork is seriously smooth and the bike as a whole is such a big improvement over my old bike it's amazing)...

If anyone is interested in anything on the bikes, send me a PM and I will see what I can do. Will take a while to get complete bikes in, but I guarantee you will not find a cheaper bike with these specs.

nice one bro. Im looking forward to seeing them.

One question, what chainring combination are you running on the Mtb? if you ran out of gears at 50, I presume you got the 28-40?

northcliff cycles sells the hardtail frames, only 10k

And I'll sell them for R6,500... Think i smell another South African rip-off!

I've got a good mark-up on these frames and you're telling me he has another 50% on my price??? Crazy... The RRP from the supplier of the frames works out at R6,634 incl. VAT, please don't go and pay R10k for them unless you really are desperate!

The wheels are 1360g... I didn't weigh the frame unfortunately, but claimed weight is 1100g (uncut seatpost). White bar tape just doesn't last at all and didn't want to go too 'bling' on the white stuff, but might try it out next...

Edge Design, I read an article during the Eurobike expo that Edge Composites changed their name to Enve Composites due to conflicts with another manufacturer. Will that be the company where you get your stuff?

EDGE COMPOSITES ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE

Edge Composites, manufacturer of carbon fiber bicycle rims and components; has announced their new company and brand name as ENVE Composites. Effective September 1st, the new name and associated collateral will be introduced at Eurobike. Ownership, management and staff will remain the same.

Trademark issues in Europe have been problematic for the three year-old company. Founder Jason Schiers said, “When we started the company three years ago, we were focused mainly on gaining a foothold in the domestic market. We were Engineers, Designers and Cyclists, and frankly, we didn’t consider checking for trademark registrations outside of the U.S. Obviously our reputation overseas has outgrown this mindset and it has become an issue recently.”

Schiers added that they had an opportunity for a license agreement in Europe but opted against it, advising “We have actually established a great relationship with the current trademark holder in Europe and, regardless of the fact that there will be no license agreement between us, there is a strong likelihood that we will discuss a future collaboration.”

Chairman Paul Lehman cited a confluence of factors affecting the decision, primarily the opportunity created by recent developments in engineering. “In the past few months we started construction on a new 20,000 square foot state-of-the-art composite facility and are announcing a major partnership with one of the top aerodynamic specialists in the world that we collectively believe will change the way bicycle wheels are designed. So much great stuff has happened that we really feel like we are a new company and so, what better time to launch a new name to go with it?”

“We have made a conscious decision to focus our energy and resources on new product development and we’re really comfortable with that, plus we really like the new name. It signifies a start of a new direction and an evolution of our products. We have spent the last year creating some exciting improvements to our product line that you will get to see and ride in the year ahead,” Lehman added.

Edge branded components and wheels will continue to be sold into the U.S. through the end of the year.

I know that. I want to know if "his" company is the one that made them change their name.

I also saw that recently, but haven't looked into it further, but would have to assume it is at least partially due to 'my' Edge brand... They are a fairly big brand in some regions and have displays at most of the major bicycle expo's so would be a serious conflict to have another brand running the same name. As I say, this is all speculation and I haven't actually spoken to my suppliers about it...

These bikes are really awesome and I hope I will be in a position next year to start carrying proper stock of the frames as people are currently (understandably) cautious about spending this sort of money on a brand with unknown (me) backup service.
