Crux' date=' did you insure your bikes somewhere else?
[/quote'] I am busy investigating an alternative solution for the whole Club, of which about 20 riders insure with Cyclesure...

It's one thing to piss of one small client...

It's a bit bigger if the client can negotiate a better deal for the whole club and lose 20-30 clients, maybe more...

Crux laat weet wie jy kan gebruik miskien kan Telkom se mense ook hulle gewig ingooi, dis nog +/- 100 mense wat kan "bargain"..

My bike was insured under the all-risks section of my householders policy but in use damage was specifically excluded.

So changed over to Pedalsure. Excess is a bit steep (10% with a min of R500) but the monthly premium was around R140 cheaper than Cyclesure.

Road bike however is insured under my householders.

Gee Crux I'm sorry to hear that, the Ombudsman is normally very good at resolving issues like this, and I'm very surprised at his ruling!!

The guy obviously had no idea about the circumstances and equipment and that why he refered it back to the underwriter, which is not right.

Maybe take it up with South African Insurance Association, I'll try get some contact detials for you!

The insurance Ombudsman office is no fool.

Perhaps its possible that the assessor had more experience in drafting the correct response to the ombudman, whereas the manufacturer didn't.

The assessor is a professional - make no mistake - often with years of experience in drafting his reports.

It's often just a case of tweaking what is being said. The results can be dramatically different.

It's a pity the decision didn't go your way Crux, but don't take the ombudman's finding too lightly.

OK guys, been investigating some as well.  Pedalsure is underwritten by Cyclesure, so guess what, "same" company!!!

Crux, have you as yet found another insurer?

Use M&F

I have my bikes under my all risks section of my home owners and the bikes are fully covered wherever they are, irrespective of what they are being used for (covered in racing)
