and if all of them wear it then you are back to square one.

True. But then it still has some value in marking you out as a cyclist while you are not on your bike. You no longer have to wear those jawbones on your head when taking the family out for sunday lunch. Losing cycling glasses or having them scratched by your kids will set you back more than R 300 a piece.

@seanmort Kevin advertises the sweatsafe thing but does not need to ride with one. Whenever he trains it's with the team and they have all his medical info on hand. I on the other hand have a sweat safe band. I will not even think of getting onto my bike unless I'm wearing it. Costs R33 a month and worth every cent.

Very true. My point was that famous people are targeted as moving billboards for every nifty thing in vogue. Some of it is positive such as the SOS and Sweatsafe products, but then you have the Powerband thingamajiggy ... If I was a celebrity I would just hate having to deal with all of this, so their agents sign them up for all sorts of things.

Okay ONLY cyclists are allowed to wear these things. If a cricketer wears it does it make him a cyclist? I thought the Livestrong bands was the dead give away. And besides, why would you want to look like a cyclists when you're not on a bike. It's like photographers that still wear those silly tog jackets.

You guys are such spoil-sports... next you'll tell me my Placebo album doesn't make me rock hard!

Oh, no, wait, that was another product...

Although this Powerband thing might work if you twist it just so...

Gotta admit I wouldn't mind being the "inventor" of these things. He must be laughing all the way to the bank. Made in China for R5 and sold for R400!!!! Tidy GP

I bet you he only gets about 10% of the money. The distributors and retailers take the other 90%.

@ sean seen any pro cyclists advertising PBs?

No, but I've not actively searched for this info either, nor am I excluding the possibility that there maybe a rider that does . I have seen some SA cricketers wearing them though. Like some Hubbers I also have keen interest in science, and have an electronics engineering background. I have also followed the post SAPS career of Danie Krugel, who is using quantum physics to locate missing persons and other objects. This so-called abstract science has more solid science in it than the Powerband.

Last word on the topic - they don`t work, strapped one to my handlebars while my bike was standing in the garage, let go my bike and it fell over - where is the balance?

I am sure it does, you must see how much energy is required to get it up a climb.
