Such a sad week for cycling, first Terry and now Mark leaving us. RIP Mark, we will sorely miss you at the Crit on Tuesdays! Sincerest condolences to the Stockton family.

Iºve read all the posts, and I can see what happened to me in November last year was typical of Mark. I went to Jhb to do the 94.7 and on the Saturday I joined up with the Cycle Lab riders for their Saturday ride. Afterwards I went to the coffee shop in the Cycle Lab centre for a coffee and muffin. I was sitting there at a table on my own and this guy sitting at another table with a youngster invited me to join them which I did. He introºd himself as Mark Stockton, and his son, and I said that I knew his name from the Hub. I had a great time sitting there shooting the breeze, like long lost friends, and when I asked for the bill so I could go he insisted on paying, not taking no for an answer. That was my experience of Mark Stockton.

Buddy, the next coffee and muffin is on me, when we hook up again in the Great Beyond.

Had the pleasure of riding (sort of) the Rietvlei 24 HR with Mark! Fantastic lad with an infectious sense of humour and jovial disposition! Shocked to hear of your passing mate! RIP and condolences to family, friends and Bazza....

May see you guys there, live and work in the area. No SAB crap, Windhoek Draught only!

That's exactly what I ordered when I got to the pub yesterday…

Thats what we also ordered. We told the waitress that only Windhoek was to be served at our table. When a friend wanted a glass or red wine she refused until we agreed that Mark would allow it.

Was good to get together last night.

Discovered last night that I have the gps data of his last ride. :( I will upload it tonight to share with you - will actually upload his last 3 which made up his last training weekend. :(

I received this from Mark's wife:

MARK's CELEBRATION of LIFE

Monday 11 am

Braamfontein Spruit, park at Fratelli's, and then walk along the spruit a bit to where the "waterfall" is

We will say a few words, share some memories, and just celebrate his life.

Bring along a WINDHOEK DRAFT to toast him!!!! He always liked to finish off a ride with a draft or two

Those interested can move on to Fratellis afterwards for lunch, drinks
