My advice to you would be to go and ride one. Have you ridden a bike with a Lefty front shock? It is a little odd... I could not get used to it so I went for an Anthem.

My mate has one and swears by it... different strokes.

I was looking at Manny Fumic's bike on Friday (he rides for the cannondale world factory team), and it's really nice. he says not as nippy and agile as the scapel, but still a nice bike!

Get it

koukie, I am also in the market vor one of these, have done a lot of reading, and it seems like a great bike for the price. will be taking one for a spin this weekend from my LBS. I think it is quite well priced if you compare it to the flash one which goes for 56k an only weighs 300 grams lighter.

What other options are you looking at? I am also considering a S-works and the Scott with the 949gram carbon frame that should be here soon.

Let me know what you can find out.

You will either click with the Lefty or find it weird. For me its just simply the best fork I have ridden.

I'm not concerned about the lefty, I want to know will I be faster with the 29er (that will be at least 1.4 kg lighter than my 26 dual suspension) than on the 26 dualie?

Koukie

I've ridden a 26" hard and 26" softail for many years and recently bought a 29" dual sus and can honestly say without any hesitation that for my riding style (predominantly XC, average 50km rides) the 29" DS is the best bike I've ever had the pleasure of riding.

The only advice I can offer to anyone else considering a 29'er (dual and I suppose the same would apply for a HT) is to take into account that at some point you will need to buy a light wheelset to compensate for the larger size wheels. After a few rides on the standard wheels that came with the bike I decided to invest in a set of "Race" wheels and bought the Stans ZTR Race 29'er wheelset (1380 g) which is actually lighter than my Mavic Ksyrium ES road wheels (1465g), ...amazing!

Anyway hope this helps.

Hi, also considering the move and would be interested to hear your thoughts on the 'Dale. Which LBS are you getting a demo bike from? Stock for all of these seem to be a problem.

What I found very interesting is that Max Knox ,Jacques Janse Van Rensburg & Brandon Stewart (DCM/Mazda Team) all ride the carbon Cannondale Flash.

However under closer inspection on the 2010 Cape Pioneer trek when the stages got more technical and very rocky they were riding with a FOX/Rockshox fork? (Normal fork)

Now why would this be? My only suggestion is that in very rocky/technical terrain this wheel could get ripped off the hub, which I have seen happen in Tokai! Being a 29er this is more likely to happen as the 29er wheel is not as stiff as a 26er!

Really cool to look at though!

So not for me! :P

The overseas DCM sponsored riders were not riding Cannondales but their own sponsored bikes - only the local team were on Dales. So if you looked quickly it appeared they were on a normal fork but it was actually not a Cdale you were seeing.

I have a Lefty on my On-One Scandal and am extremely happy with it. A far smotther and plusher ride than my old fork and it tracks a lot better as well.

Can't go wrong with any 'dale and there will be no turning back ;)

And if you are going the Lefty route, make sure you grease those needles often enough, unlike kippie moi who now has a seized Lefty.

the only downside to the lefty is the travel i think they limited to 85mm travel, the cannondale has SAVE technology in the rear stays wich makes it work pretty much the same as a wishbone suspension to they "say" it is equivalent to having a 1" rear suspension,

i took the flash demo 29er out on a trail last month and was very impressed with the bike! it climbs like a mountain goat but i thought that it wasnt very nimble in the tight stuff eg switchbacks etc where i thought the bigger wheel caused a gyroscopic effect! it might just be me though! all in all i think this is a fantastic bike and would buy one in a heartbeat!! there is a flash 29er aluminium option too that sells for 20k and isnt alot heavier than the carbon X9 2x10 spec
