the all mountain bike - myth or reality?

All mountain bikes aren't meant to be used either for XC/Downhill, they're a hybrid, you cant race it downhill and you cant race it in XC but for training you can lower the seat for downhill and lift it back up for XC, crankbrothers joplin can do it :)

Rémy Absalon win the 2011 Megavalanche !!!

We like when a plan unfolds without a hitch! 9:42 AM today, Rémy Absalon brought his talent to the all new Meta AM launching plan, as he won the 2011 Megavalanche on it.

This year’s Megavalanche was particularly lust after, with all the major Enduro and Marathon DH specialists from all over the world. Remy used his experience and his technical skills to manage his race from beginning to hand

Author of a good start, Remy let the boldest racers take all the risks on the glacier. Quite prudent, he went out the icy section with René Wildhaber. When turning for the narrow and technical singletrack, Megaman did a mistake, authorizing the COMMENCAL rider to take a short advantage.

Confident with his new Meta All Mountain, the multiple Marathon DH European Champion increased his advance in the steep and rocky sections.

When crossing mid-race time split, he outstripped his competitors by about 30 seconds. The second part of the track, a bit less technical but still very marked because of the previous day races didn’t offer much of respite. However, the main assets of his new bike allowed him to pace his shape and even to increase his lead again.

Thus, the Superteam rider crossed the finish line with 47 seconds gap above his challengers, Jerome Clementz and Rene Wildhaber, writing his name to the race tablets for the second time.

I was missing a bit of explosivity and endurance in the pedaling sections after his wrist injury, he benefitted from confidence with his new Meta All Mountain though. Indeed, he was able to chose risky lines and pace physically in order to keep a constant high speed all along this Megavalanche track.

Congrats Remy and to Jean Yves his mechanic who make a essential work

This is my AM bike all done. It's a Morewood Makulu. Yes I know it's a downhill bike but I've made some changes from my original spec to allow me to ride up Tokai where I do 70% of my riding.

1. Joplin 4 seatpost.

2. The front chainring has been changed from a 38 to a 34

3. The rear cluster has been changed to a 12-36. I've had to fit a medium cage derailleur which has resulted in quite a lot of chainslap when riding downhill but I'm more than happy to live with that.

On Sunday I rode from my house to Tokai (About 5km). Up the fairy garden. Up the boring road. Up the 1 snake trail. Up boulders and back down the downhill and to my house. The changes have proved so effective that I'm probably going to sell my hard tail and shelve my AM bike project.

Hey, I saw you and hooted. Was in a white merc [over]loaded with bikes on the roof. You looked but quickly looked away, not sure if it was coz you were in public with that helmet or what, but yes, you were riding.

The wide bars caught my eye first! Thought I was going crazy, wide bars? XC rider heading up from home? Wide bars? Pink helmet, ah ok!

When we riding up together.. why you phone Richard first, that SOB is still broken!

Hahaha. I need to sticker that helmet up.

I'm going to Nigeria for 2 weeks on Sunday so no more riding for me till I get back. Ugh.

Hey, how odd are some of those comments on the other thread?? Makes Tokai sound sort of an odd place to be.

If only they knew, huh? .

You are gonna dig riding the rest of the trails.. ha ha, can't wait in fact! Phone me, text me.. but let me know!

Getting there! LBS has built it up just having issues with my rear shock. Supplier is sending a temporary replacement shock until it's sorted, so I should have some decent (built) pics tomorrow ish, whoo hoo!
