That would be in the best interest of the sport, but when have the UCI ever cared about what's best for cycling?

Yeah, then frankly I dont see the point of having the Spanish Cycling Federation if the UCI can just over rule all their decisions?. What are they there for then.? Why should they bother to do anything if it stands a good chance of getting overuled in 2 years time.?

It dosnt make sense to me, but hey, I worked all my life for myself, I had to make decisions that worked for the majority in the shortest possible time, its fine having all these layers and 2 year plans / procesess, but you also have to have a TOMORROW plan / process, because sometimes events dont wait that long.

I agree, if it's an international event it should be up to UCI to judge. Maybe the federations should look after events within their ambit.

Yeah, but when the spanish federation, in this case, asked for UCI and wada to be part of the initial disciplinary committee, the uci told them thay have to do it themselves.

All that we are asking is a fair trial, if he tested positive he must be banned like all other riders !

What so far about the way RFEC have handled this is unfair?

Valverde kept all his results up to when the appeals were finished.

I don't think being a known doper makes much difference - Frank Schlek paid 7k euro into Fuentes' account, so he is also a known doper. All the top riders dope.

Re a plasticizer test - I think they have a clause now that they may retro-actively test samples for a time. But I don't think they will, it will esult in 30 or 40 riders busted in one Tour. What would happen if the whole HTC, Saxo, Astana, Radioshack, Leopard-Trek got banned in one TDF? All their sponsors would go, some unknown rider would win, earnings would plummet. No way UCI would allow that.

I would like to find out what Plasticizer tests show for Schlecks, Cavendish, Cancellara for last year, as well.

Especially now that everybody knows he is hopped up....nobody will take him serious now that he is a doper found guilty. He can win the 200 tours and still be a confirmed doper

not sure about that, many many disciples still took la seriously. Contador should learn from the best and just donate some money to an anti-doping initiative.

So where can I get this stuff to loose weight - I am in desperation - been trying to loose weight - eating more meat, but alas, when I get to the hills - man do I suffer

And I buy my meat at reputable places hoping for some "stuff in it"

The year is 1998. The first team kicked out is Festina. Then ONCE and Banesto and Risco Scotti. A few days later Kelme leaves, and then Vitalicio Seguros, and then TVM. I think I got the order right.

There are big names involved. France's darling Virenque and champion Jalabert.

As a result Coca Cola pulls it's sponsorship.

Despite all this a doper wins.

contador cleared

from the bbc

Three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has been cleared to race after winning his appeal against a provisional one-year doping ban.

Spain's Contador, 28, tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol during last year's Tour in July.

The Spaniard protested his innocence, claiming contaminated meat was responsible for his dope test failure.

Contador was cleared of knowingly using banned drugs and will now take part in the Tour of Algarve from Wednesday.

Full report to follow.
