Not one Metro car or official in sight - are they striking or are they stuffing their fat faces with muffins and coke? What a joke, when a country succumbs to the issues of law enforcing officials!

I feared this from the start. After yesterday I thought I may be wrong but no such luck. The people in the city just do not want cycling on their turf - especially if they are not informed before hand. I know how peeved I get when the metro cops put up a road block in Sandton on a weekend because the traffic is BAD. Same happened at the Nationals in PE. You can't bring to the people what they are not interested in. (maybe once the tour is on the map?) Stick to country areas and small towns that can see the benefit of hosting these events. This kind of thing just increases tension between cyclists and motorists. Poor show!

 The stop-start of SA!

1 stage

stop-start, stop-start, STOP

rest day

race some more (hopefully)

The video coverage and footage seems quite fitting to the CellC sponsor, it is just as bad as their network coverage! :P

Very disappointing and embarrassing :(

absolutely ludicrous to say the least - thought that this would have been sorted out after the SA's - what an embarrassment. But wait there is more - SA motorists do not give a damn - taxi are lawless and do just what they want - this is why our cyclists are unsafe on the roads - its a "stuff you" mindset - it also highlights the level of competence from our traffic department.

Cycling SA has to be to blame for this, the SA Champs in PE was shockingly organized and today’s stage once again proves their incompetence. PE took a fair amount of blame for the SA Champs but you can’t help but wonder if the problem rests at the top. Did the organizers not publish the route and the roads affected by temporary closures in the local press? (The reason I ask is that I live in PE and have yet to see anything in the press, drastic contrast to Ironman where a notice is included with the Rates and Taxes bill for the 2 months preceding the race.)

I have to agree with you here, not everyone is interested in cycling and so not everyone going to play the game. Out of curiosity, where was the Rapport Tour route?

One monumetal cock up, no Metro cops or marshals manning intersections. Problems started in Soweto with taxi's and got progressivly worse.

Hugely embarrasing riders seriously pissed off!!!!!
