I have the Flux now and mega happy with it. I've seen the 661 lid in the flesh and it's a good looking helmet. For Fox, get it at buycycle.co.za, for 661 dialdbikes.co.za

I got hit on the back of the headby a 20m container truck while commuting to work >> thank goodness for my "all mountain/trail" helmet- there is no such thing as "does not warrant it"

You got a 10 buck head use a 10 buck helmet

For me the best protection I can afford is the minimum - thanx

I hear you.

Just think I will stand out in the crowd doing a 40-60km XC race at this stage. That is why I want to upgrade my current XC helmet for more protection.

This is my new All Mountain Helmet. I know it's not ACTUALLY and AM helmet but I just had to show it.

here in the alps I've seen quite a few riders wearing one of these 3

MET Parachute (winner of Patches' Ugliest Helmet Ever Award, and runner up in my "how to look like a spaz"... winner was the TT helmet)

Urge Endur-O-Matic (like Thig said... pretty darn cool)

and even a few of these

But the truth of the matter is... here in the alps... most people wear full face helmets... whether they're in full DH kit on a santa cruz V10, lycra on a cabon 29er HT (sorry, I lie, haven't seen ANY 29ers here yet, haha) just meant to say XC hard tail, or they're fun-riding in shorts and golf shirt on a rental bike.

*droooool*

I've noticed tons of people here riding D3's. Some with bikes worth less than the helmet. I scheme and count pennies every shop I go by that has them.

I've just come back from a ride. Did Pleney, Chavanes (2.5 runs), and Nauchettes (2 runs). It's lunch time. Besdes, I'm waitng for Peach to come home from Thonon hospital. Poor guy!

I really wanted to do Chatel today... but maybe not a good idea on my own. Luckily super_mil and his bicycle gang arrive tomorrow so From thursday no more solo riding!

Yeah sorry about that. I forgot to tell you something. The little red flags on the lips at chatel mean gap. Try to get him to hang around and take pics and stuff. It's still a stunning part of the world. Also try not let it get you down. It's downhill. That **** is dangerous. My mate Richard crashed on the dirt road into Les Gets on our 3rd day. Not even on that bit of single track. Just on the dirt road just before the tunnel. cracked ribs. very sore. Trip over. The crashes always happen on the 3rd or 4th day. You start getting comfortable with the elevation and speed and then....

When you go to Chatel ride Serpentine. It's not the most tech or challenging track but OMG. There must be 25 berms/wallrides on that track. It's where people is. instead of turning in to people at the middle lift you just carry on down that dirt road right to the end. The road eventually becomes serpentine. I've never seen berms like that in my life before.

hahaha, funny you say that! Serpentine is where Peach had his ongeluk.

Came up to a blind jump, didn't notice the gap signage, hesitated slightly, and landed in a ditch :(

But yeah... Panoramic (the prequel to Serpentine) is also amazing! The ride down from Linderets too. Definitely going to try spend most of my time out that way. Way less braking bumps than Les Gets red line.

As for Peach... he is staying for the full trip. In fact his wife flies in tomorrow. So they can do couple touristy things. This really is one of the most beautiful places on earth

ok... Hi-jack off... back to AM helmets

Bummer. Ah well. Stuff happens. Now that you've been to chatel. To get to Morgins and Crosets.

All you do is this. Where you turn in to the the DH track in Linderettes to get to chatel. You just carry on with that single track across the lindarettes valley. (So Avoriaz will be at the top of the hill on your right as you are riding along)

You will come out to the Mosettes France lift. That lift takes you to the top of some mountain. On the other side of that mountain is crosets. You'll see the one track. To get in to Crosets you ride along the road as if you are going back down into lindaretes (That road is called puncture alley) and about 100m later on the left is one of the crosets tracks. I've not ridden it but by all accounts it's amazing.

To get to Morgins is more of a ball ache. I'd recommend going with someone who's been multiple times.

Sorry for the Hijack.

Urge Endur-O-Matic (like Thig said... pretty darn cool)

.

I been riding an eduromatic for about 6 months now and it's by far the most comfortable helmet I've owned.

My Flux is gathering dust in the garage. I've had various Bell, MET and other helmets, and nothing comes close to the Urge.
